Since the appearance of the formalism novel that dispelled the depth of the text mode in the second half of1980’s, the contemporary novels with the overall image of the intertexture of "absurd history and hopeless reality" in the last30years have presented a far cry from the previous ones in narrative ethics. This article summarized the novels with the concept of nihilism which was mainly elucidated from the aspect of axiology, that was the reality of the collapse of rational value system which was brightly reflected by the emergence of the rational broken self image. General method of combining history and logic was applied in this article to analyze the nihilism performance of historical narrative and the realistic narrative in the novels of the last30years.First of all, the negation of rational value system by the historical narrative embodied in the replacement that from deterministic theory to relativity, and then resulted in the nihilistic conclusion that history had no truth. The first chapter described the process of this conclusion:For a supplement of power only narrative, historical narrative of the civil position moderately questioned the historical truth; in succession, personal narration of history emphasized the real individual and simultaneously denied the truth of the king’s narrative completely. As the most extreme way of looking for historical authenticity, multi-perspective narrative not only failed to find truth but also lost the true of collective and individual, remained an empty heart for the history. Relativism narrative concepts influenced the trend of the historical novel, the rise of a large number historical fictions and the adaptation boom of classic historical narrative were related to it.Secondly, the negation of rational value system by the historical narrative embodied in the replacement that from progressivism to circulatory methodology, and then caused the conclusion that history was worthless. The second chapter firstly illuminated the cyclical theory resources in Chinese and western culture and literary traditions, contemporary historical narrator with the guide of cyclical theory described the operational process of history as "griddle" type tautology. The narrator put too much emphasis on and magnified the decisive role of evil desire in the course of history. The desire of revenge and sex, lust for power made the linear historical time lost its value and had been distorted to the circle loop. The main performance of the cycle time in narratology was two kinds of narrative structure,"head-tail closure" and "cycle of repetition"Thirdly, the negation of rational value system by the historical narrative embodied in the replacement that from theory of goodness-human-nature theory to evil-human-nature theory, thereby causing the nihilism conclusion about the sinking down of the human and impossibility of redemption. Chapter three described the gray space of daily life narrative, the only fate for people in the mundane earth was spending their "Worried Life" lonely in "All trifles". In the observation of the evil-human-nature theory, love, the highest value carrier of the secular world, was illusory, short and ridiculous love was naked replaced by sexual desire; the novels of violence and greed to reflect evil humanity came out frequently showed the fictionist’s disappointment to human nature and lack of faith in salvation.Finally, after the collapse of the value of foundation in history and reality, nihilist, as the most direct expression of this condition, appeared in the narrative of the novel. Chapter four described the mental genealogy of contemporary nihilist. He, as a stranger to the outer world, experienced roles of run-down modern hero, pessimistic loser, vacant one with desperate pain, insipid man, and finally came among us with a " stranger " image who was unfamiliar with himself. |
