Objective:This study intended to investigate the applications of Qi-men point from reviewing the related records in ancient and modern medical literatures in order to understand their diagnosis and treatment ideas,and looked forward to summarizing the regulations and features of its clinical application.In addition,the study also searched from modern literatures through statistics and analysis to understand modern applications.By comparing the past and present illnesses,more possibilities of clinical application may be promoted to a greater extent.This study also tries to summarize the positioning,moxibustion,acupuncture considerations,and security concerns of acupuncture accidents thus to provide suitable models and theoretical basis for Qi-men point in clinical applications and research.Research methodsThis research is mainly based on literature review,combined with statistical analysis.All the ancient literatures are cited from the Chinese Medical Classics in the fifth edition of the e-book published by Hunan Electronic and Audio-visual Publishing House.This edition is the most complete collection of Classical Chinese Medical books.Throughoutcomputerized retrieval and reading,information was collected and retrieved on the keyword of Qi-men and Liver Mu point.Then all the data were recorded into the EXCEL database according to the including and excluding criteria.The data were collected and divided into two categories:diseases and symptoms treated by single Qi-men point and Qi-men with compatibility.Then the outcome is further classified according to the clinical categories such as Chinese medicine internal medicine,surgery,gynecology,pediatrics,ophthalmology,ear,nose and throat for statistical classification using frequency statistical methods.Modern literature is searched from CNKI,Wanfang database,COVIP and Google Academic.Duplicated articles were filtered as well.Similarly,the documents were divided according to the classification of single-point indications and indications of compatibility,further according to suitable clinical illness classification.In order to ensure complete retrieval,search keywords include Qi-men point,Liver Mu point,gallbladder diseases,literature research,indications and so on.Selection of the search words are mainly from National Textbook of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.ResultsIn the ancient documents,the suitable indication of Qi-men single point includes 62 kinds of disease,while the combination with Qi-men can cure 62 diseases.After eliminating the repeated 21 diseases,it can be concluded that there are 103 kinds of attending applications found in Ancient Chinese Medical Literature.From the modern studies,the suitable indications of Qi-men single point include 3 kinds of diseases,while the combination with Qi-men can cure 24 diseases.After eliminating the repeated 1 disease,it can be concluded that there are 26 kinds of attending applications found in Ancient Chinese Medical Literature.
