Objective: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic interstitial lung disease in one of its specific and the cause is unknown with progressive deterioration. Common clinical features mannifest aggravated dyspnea, irritating cough and lung auscultation crackles.Patients usually are affected by persistent hypoxemia and eventually died of respiratory failure. The prognosis is poor with a higher mortality rate. There is currently a lack of effective drugs to treat the disease. The main pathogenesis consists of lung injury and balance disorders between anti-fibrosis and fibrosis. The study established animal model of interstitial lung disease in rats to observe the anti-fibrogenic effect of phlegm-reducing herbs and provided theoretical support for clinical medication guide.Methods: The experiment selected 110 healthy male Wistar rats of SPF class which were randomly divided into 11 groups: control group(A group), interstitial lung disease model group(group B), huangyaozi group(group C), chuanbei group( D), banxia group(E),tiannanxing group(F), haizao group(G), qianhu group(H group), baiqian group(I group),pangdahai group(J group), pirfenidone group(K group). After adaptive feeding 3d, using intratracheal instillation of bleomycin method to establish rat model of interstitial lung disease, and given medicine orally intervene. The rats were killed on the first 28 d. Using light microscope to observe pathological changes of lung tissue. ELISA was used to detect the lung tissue of rats TRPV1, TGF-?1, PPAR? and VEGF.Results: In terms of reducing the content of the lung tissue of pulmonary fibrosis rat TRPV1, chuanbei, banxia, huangyaozi, qianhu manifest statistically significant improvement. In terms of increasing the content of the lung tissue of pulmonary fibrosis rat PPAR?, huangyaozi, qianhu, tiannanxing, baiqian manifest statistically significant improvement. In terms of reducing the content of the lung tissue of pulmonary fibrosis rat TGF-?1, tiannanxing, haizao, qianhu, pangdahai, huangyaozi, chuanbei, banxia manifest statistically significant improvement. In terms of reducing the content of the lung tissue of pulmonary fibrosis rat VEGF, banxia, qianhu, haizao, baiqian, pangdahai manifest statistically significant improvement. Qianhu, huangyaozi, banxia significantly improved the indicators above-mentioned better, suggesting that the treatment effect is good.Conclusion:Phlegm-reducing herbs on pulmonary fibrosis in rats showed anti-fibrogenic effect of different degrees. The mechanism includes correcting disorders among anti-fibrosis and fibrotic balance, reducing pro-fibrotic cytokine release; relieving pulmonary vascular endothelial cell injury, inhibiting fibroblast proliferation and myofibroblast transformation and reducing airway remodeling. Phlegm-reducing herbs can suppress fibrogenesis to anti pulmonary fibrosis. This study provides a theoretical basis for special support and medication clinical treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
