Objective:The main objective of this clinical study was to compare the esthectic outcome of single implant crowns following immediate implant treatment(IIT) and delayed implant treatment(DIT) in the anterior maxillary.Methods:42 dental implants were included in the study,20 received immediate implant treatment and 22 received delayed implant treatment. All the patient had screw retention provisional resin crowns before final crown insertion. An intra-oral digital photograph was obtained 6 months after the insertion of final restoration. Pink esthetic score (PES) and white esthetic score (WES) were calculated for both groups. A statistical analysis was performed to compare the parameters between two groups. Results:The implant survival was 95.0%for ?T and 100%for DIT(P=0.444). Mean values for PES were 12.05±0.97 and 10.50±1.57 for ?T and for DIT, respectively. These values showed statistically significant differences(P=0.001). Mean values for WES were 8.00±1.41 and 6.95±1.21 for ?T and for DIT, respectively. These values showed statistically significant differences(P=0.021).68.4% of the IIT group showed an(almost) perfect pink esthetic outcome(PES?12), but only 22.7%in the DIT group. These values showed statistically significant differences(P=0.005). Combining the PES and WES outcome,31.6%of the ?T group showed an(almost) perfect esthetic outcome(PES?12 and WES?9), but only 4.55% in the DIT group. These values showed statistically significant differences(P=0.036). Among all the parameters, midfacial contour, soft tissue color and tooth volume/outline showed major discrepancies between two groups. And the differences had statistical significance. Conclusion:The ?T group showed a better pink and white esthetic outcome than the DIT group in a short observing period, and they can get comparable implant survival.
