Since the establishment of formal Thai-Sino diplomatic relations, two countries cooperative relations have been developing rapidly in the fields of politics, economics, culture, and other matters, fruitful results have been achieved. According to historical records, the bilateral trade exchanges date back to the Sukhothai Kingdom in northern Thailand and Song dynasty period of China. Chinese literature was also accompanied by a Thai-Sino trade and Chinese immigrants entered Thailand. Many scholars have studied the relationship between two countries literature from different concepts, especially how Chinese martial arts novel or Chinese classical novel can be accerpted by Thai’s people. While two categories of Chinese literature in Thailand were be studied to the degree of their impact in many circles, but unfortunately, there is no further in-depth research and analysis of the influence of modern Chinese literature in Thailand.Chinese literature have been disseminated in Thailand through various channels, especially the rapid spread of Thai translated version of Chinese classical novels. These translation works also have an influence widely in Thai society. Early in the40th of past century,Thai intellectures begun to focus on the masterpieces of modern Chinese literature. The appearance of Lu Xun’s story of Ah-Q Thai version which was be purchased and swept in a haste, profoundly affecting Thai literacy world. Since then, modern Chinese literature have played its important role with the acceptance by Thai’s reader in Thailand. The dissemination and existence of modern Chinese literature in Thailand involved reader’s understanding of literacy work. The reader whether absorbed or accepted the spirit, aesthetic and artistic appetite of literacy work affecting by reader’s subjective consciousness in reading process.This thesis aimed to analyze four aspects of the influence of modern Chinese literature in Thailand:first, the dissemination of modern Chinese literature in Thailand, focusing the development progress of Thai translated version of Chinese literacy works. For literary dissemination, modern Chinese literary works was disseminanted in various channels and forms, the Thai translation works paid the important role. The dissemination of modern Chinese literature in Thailand has suffered in the two periods of1939-1944and1958-1961. Both times, all Chinese-language newspapers were closed caused by Thailand Government of anti-communist policies. Thailand Government strictly prohibited people to read the literary work written in Chinese characters. Thailand and China established formal diplomatic relations in1975, from then the cultural values and artist value of modern Chinese literary works were considerd by Thailand literature circle, translation modern Chinese literature to flourish once again. Thailand Royal family Princess Sirindhorn, soon took the lead in the Thai diplomatic relations involved in Chinese literary translation activity, has translated several works of Chinese literature, and wrote several articles about China travel, not only had to make an example of Thai peple, but also for the modern Chinese literature wide dissemination in Thailand have made an important contribution. Diversification of Chinese literature translation from the80’s to the present, no focus on translation works of some writers, literary creation and market sales has a close relationship.Second, the relationship between Thai socially committed literature trend, Thai intellectures, Thai writers and modern Chinese literature, focusing the influence of modern Chinese literature on the development of Thai socially committed literature trend. In summary, in emergence stage of Thai socially committed literature, Thai scholars and authors of the literary genre tried to find theoretical basis and development directions of Thai socially committed literature, under the influence of modern Chinese literature. The Thai writer Udom Srisuwan) borrowed Mao Ze-Dong’s speech concept to write his article " see social from literature, see literature from social", and made slogan of "literary for life",then caused Thailand literary of debate, many Thailand radical writer accepted this concept, began towards Thai socially committed literature creation direction. Thai radical writers studied and understood Mao Zedong’s literary concept following the spirit of the speech in order to create their literary works. They also found that the representative of Lu Xun’s novel, the story of Ah-Q which wrote China’s social ills similarly to the Thai society, and enlighten Thai people about social reform.1973and1976October, Thailand broke the revolutionary movement against the military Government, one of the factors that came from scholars and universities Thai students who was effected by modern Chinese literature. Third, the relationship between Thai-Sino literature and modern Chinese literature. May Fourth new literature closely related to the rise of Thai-Sino literature raised Thai-Sino writers spirit and inspiration. Many Chinese authors who immigrated to Thailand in the early period have received education in mainland China and absorbed China’s new literature movement spirit strongly, those was found in their creation. New culture movement advocated the concept of realistic writing, has always been main creative direction of Thai-Sino literature. The spirit of anti-Japanese movement, had ever become the mainstream of Thai-Sino literature. Memorial Lu Xun activity was the high point of this literary concept.Forth, the research and acceptance of Luxun’s novels, focusing why these novels have been popular in Thailand. Lu Xun’s works appeared in Thailand at the early period had a great impact, because the story of Ah-Q met the reading require of Thailand community. Such influence has extended beyond the literary aesthetic value, which reflected the social value. Ideological implication of Lu Xun’s works inspiered Thai intellectuals to find the way for political reform. Thailand intellectuals saw Lu Xun as a revolutionary symbol or political symbol. Such radical Thailand scholars under the oppression of military dictatorship, on the political situation in despair, hoped to find out the way of social change from foreign literary works like Lu Xun’works, to change the bad situation of military despotism. In addition to looking for ideas of political reform, Thailand scholars researched Lu Xun’s work through academic theory. Thailand political and literary control ease of the80’s in the last century, Thailand scholars mainly understood Lu Xun from his work’s, those literary work’s aesthetic values, artist value, language description, characterization, etc were discussed.This paper based on above perspectives to study the relationship between Thai literature and modern Chinese literature. It will be valuable for literary exchanges of the two countries.Due to limited knowledge, in the process of discussing may occur some mistakes, hoping to get suggestion from teachers and experts.
