Korean peninsula which absorbs and learns Confucian culture, especially thethought of Chu Hsi is one of the important members in the Chinese culture circle.With Chinese historic books’ coming, its historiography was developing. It not onlyimitated the Chinese mentalities of historian widely, but also reflected its nationalityand epochal character in the thoughts of historian.Korea and China has been contacting with other in the political, economic,cultural and other areas since ancient times. Most of the times, the culture wasone-way dissemination from China. Along with the Chinese culture in the east, thecompiling history systems, historiographers’ setting and historical books’ compilingwere also developing. At the same time, learning Chinese mentalities of historian andthe thoughts of historian contributed to the emergence of the ethnic history. BecauseKorea accepted the Chinese mentalities and thoughts of historian, its mentalities havea lot of kinds, for example biography, chronicle, Gang-Mu Ti, the memoir, history oflaws and institutions, history of geography etc. But Koryo and Chosen were Chinesefence vassal state whose domestic political environment changed with its sovereignpolitical change occurring, its creation of history books modified the way of historybooks’ writing, chose the historical materials and used writing style of Chun-Qiu.After the changing of Ming and Qing dynasties, Korean official began to compile lotsof Gang-Mu Ti history books, and appeared the phenomena of rebuilding Chinesehistory books. But in the modern times, because of Suzerain-vassal relationgship’slifting, the writing style of Shida Principle(the principle of the small state waitingupon the big one) was abandoned and Chinese culture’s influence on the Koreanpeninsula was also slipping away.
