Study On Urban Space-Color Planning Based On Operational Perspective

Great changes have taken place in China since the reform and opening policy:rapid development of economic,significant improvement of urbanization level and dynamic change of urban construction. Urban sprawl and renewal have a certain effect on the traditional urban structure and feature while they provides convenient modern life, therefore the environment quality needs improving urgently. The problem how to make coordination between the rapid development and continuation of traditional feature and improvement of environment quality has triggered much concern.Urban color is just the representative of these issues. Under the mass demolishing and construction programs, the cities have lost their features and disorder has arisen in cities’ color landscapes. The original urban views, which are beautiful, harmonious and full of regional characteristics, have disappeared. Faced with this situation, domestic urban planners learn positively from foreign experience, introducing urban color planning theory to solve urban color problem. In recent years, urban color planning has been popularized in many cities in China, acquiringgood results as well as exposing weaknesses, mainly in the loose connection between theory and spaceof urban color planning,lack of operability incontrol strategy and method. In this case, how to consider the color in urban space and present a theory system of urban color planning from operational perspectiveis an urgent problem.The paper’s logic system consists of four parts:problem analysis, theory construction, operational system construction and empirical study. It attempts to find the improving direction of urban color planningthroughanalysis of causes of color problem, lessons and demeritsof urban color planning; combines the theories of urban space with color, presents the strategy of urban space-color planning; establish the operation framework of urban space-color planning from operational perspective. Finally it is validated through empirical study.The first part is problem analysis, divided into Chapter1and Chapter2.The first chapter is the introduction, which introduces the background, related concepts, objects, the range and the research system. The secondchapterfirstlyanalyses the urban color problem, then presents the theory and practice of urban color planning around the word as well as analyzing the experience and enlightenment of practice cases, finally it deduces main problems in the internal urban color planning and puts forward the improving direction:combining color with space to promote the operability.The second is theory construction, divided into Chapter3and Chapter4. Chapter3is the basic theory of urban space and color, the paper brings related theories of color science and urban space-aesthetics to form theoretical basis of urban space-color; Chapter4integrates the urban space and color from different levels and establishes the theory of urban space-color based on Chapter3. The paper proposes the macro level image, meso level structure and micro level interface of urban space-color, respectively analyzingthe similarities and differences of the colorscapes in different cities, the relationship between the whole and part of urban color and the practice of color planning in micro level, which builds a theoretical platform for the operation framework of urban space-color planning system.The third is operational system construction. Chapter5constructs the operation framework of urban space-color planning based on previous theory. It proposes the core idea:classification, stratification and socialization, which makes up for the weakness of existing urban color planning system. It also explains the specific strategies and methods of the whole frame work.The last part is empirical study. With actual case, Chapter6furtherexaminesthe theory, strategy and operational approach of urban space-color planning based on operational perspective. Finally, the paper draws a conclusion and provides application outlooks.
