The analysis of Marxist thought on ecological economics is the need of the contemporary development of Marxism, and especially the need of promoting the construction of ecological civilization and developing circular economy at present. The interpretation of the ecological economics thought of Marx and Engels should be based on the integrity of Marxist theories and directed by the scientific world view and methodology. There is abundant thought on ecological economics in Marx and Engels’ theory of duality, theory of material exchange and material cycle, theory of comprehensive production and theory of scientific socialism. Marxist thought on ecological economics takes the harmony between man and nature as the starting value point, practice as the value medium, and realization of the free and overall development of human as the value target. Marxist thought on ecological economics provides the methodology guidance and theoretical basis for the research of circular economy. Study of circular economy from the perspective of Marxist thought on ecological economics would be of great practical significance for us both to understand the theoretical connotation and to develop the practice of circular economy. How to define circular economy from the perspective of Marxist thought on ecological economics? The circular economy should focus on the overall coordination and dynamically balanced development of the five subsystems of society, economy, ecology, culture and science&technology; circular economy shall realize the comprehensive effect, which unifies ecological benefits, economic benefits, social benefits, cultural benefits and scientific&technological benefits, showing the high efficiency of developmental achievements. Thus, the so-called circular economy is an economic development mode on the premise of the harmony between man and nature, taking resource saving and recycling in the process of production as the main approaches, and green technology innovation as the breakthrough point, thus to solve the ecological environmental problems the human currently face with, and to realize the five-dimensional integration development of economy, ecology, society, science&technology and culture, and to eventually realize the economical developmental mode of human’s free and overall development. The essence of circular economy is ecologic economy which is a result of theoretical innovation in restudying the developmental relationship between human and nature; the mode of circular economy is an abrogation of economic growth mode as well as an inevitable outcome of the development of advanced productive forces and advanced cultural development in modern times, and is a process of continued progress. Circular Economy is the specific embodiment of the Scientific Outlook on Development. What’s more, it is also an economic mode that promotes human’s free and overall development.Circular economy has its specific social, economic, ecological, cultural and scientific&technological natures and functions. Therefore, social changes in all areas are needed to develop circular economy. Easier said than done, the development of circular economy could not only stay at the concept level, but need to be implemented as a kind of pragmatic and specific practice. To develop circular economy, we need to relocate the role of the government, recognizing correctly the role it has played in the development, and promote positively it to "transform ecologically"; the development of circular economy also needs the transformation of producers’ behavior and the construction of circular-economy enterprises, which take substance’s flowing closed-loopy as its characteristic, make substance and energy be used reasonably and durably during the whole economic activities, raise the allocative efficiency of resources and environment and realize the ecological turning; the development of circular economy requires to consider the issue of consumption mode again in the compound system of coordination between ecology-economy-society and to construct its corresponding sustainable consumption mode.
