Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a multi hop network. The topology of theentire wireless network will change with the movement of the nodes, the node or linkfailure, the node join and quit. These changes make the network management faceserious challenges, so the traditional client/server management model is unable tomeet the requirements of ad hoc networks management. In order to adapt to thecharacteristics of mobile ad hoc networks, many network management systemstructures and technologies have been proposed.The MANET management framework is reaserched in this dissertation, whichincludes the management domain model, the fast clustering broadcast algorithm, andthe design and implementation of a prototype management system. The main contentsof this dissertation are as follows:(1) In the MANET environment, based on the analysis and the improvement ofthe previous researches, integrated of the P2P network and policy, a hierarchical,adaptive management framework is proposed. This peer domain managementframework is a kind of "quasi" three layers of mobile ad hoc network management.The framework can flexibly adapt to the different network changes and needs, reducethe central node management pressure, and give full play to the center nodemanagement ability.(2) Based on the analysis of the management domain partition and maintenance,combined with the minimum ID algorithm and "weights" partition method, a kind ofdomain partition and maintenance algorithm based on the U value is put forward. Andin the intensive region, a management domain split algorithm is considerated.(3) Based on the analysis of common broadcast algorithm on the clusterestablishment time, a fast clustering method based on broadcast delay label ispresented. Principle analysis and simulation results show that the broadcast algorithmcan greatly reduce the cluster network establishment time.(4) In laboratory, using Java language, based on the JMX framework, in the Java2SDK1.6environment, a prototype network management system of MANET isdesigned and implemented. The system adopts hierarchical and distributedmanagement mode, it can enhance the the network scalability and the ability of loadbalancing, management system has good scalability and flexible deploymentcapability.
