With the rapid development of computer technology and photonics, the machine vision inspection system has developed towards the trend of automation, Intellectualization and common application; it is widely used and increasingly attracts people’s attention as a non-contact inspection means. This paper researches the key technology in workpiece online inspection system based on distribution machine vision; and on this basis, the rolled piece tracking and roll table motor control system based on distribution machine vision is devised for a certain medium plate plant.In line with the features, which are in some large-scale industrial processes, such as the long assembly line and the relatively large produced workpieces with regular shape, this paper designs a structure concerning online inspection system of distribution machine vision, adopting many subsystems of image processing to collaboratively complete the inspection task. This paper researches the problems of synchronization and inspection timeliness, which are in the distribution machine vision system, solving the problem of synchronization in many subsystems of image processing.On the basis of analysis on the requirement of workpiece tracking in industrial assembly line, and on the basis of the features of embedded smart camera, this paper puts forward a design scheme about an embedded smart camera with high-performance. This scheme uses dual CPU as the core of hardware system and high-speed DSP processor as the video image processor; it uses high-speed microcontroller to conduct the control over systems and to do the communication processing; and it also devises a software framework that applies to the task of workpiece inspection and tracking.This paper does the corresponding research on how to achieve the intelligent visual analysis in embedded smart camera, for the specific industrial environment and the specific computing environment. The research includes:the fast pretreatment method turning in the direction of feature enhancement and target inspection and recognition; the fast algorithm about the analysis on the target’s features, the image segmentation of background and target, feature extraction, etc. In the algorithm design, the effectiveness and speediness of the algorithm is a factor that can not be ignored; some rules and the application achievement of machine visual perception are explored.This paper researches CAN communication scheduling algorithm that can meet the requirement of synchronization in data transmission of machine vision online tracking and inspection system; it combines hours of operation mode with the operation mode in view of priority so as to form CAN network layer structure, ensuring and improving the synchronization of information frame transmission. And the reference frame is used to carry the scheduling information of the system so that the scheduling of network information frame can be more flexible and thus the communication system can promptly get adapted to the requirement of control system. On the basis of the structure of machine vision tracking and inspection system and in the purpose of energy saving, for a certain medium plate plant this paper devises a roller motor control system based on distribution machine vision. The system detects the position of the rolled pieces on current roll table through machine vision; the process of production determines the movement of rolled pieces; the position of rolled piece determines the start and stop of every roll table. In this way the purpose of energy saving is achieved. In the meantime, rolled piece tracking is the central link of automatic steel rolling system; the accurate tracking to every rolled piece can-in a great degree-upgrade the medium plate plant’s level of automation. The research and the development efforts made by this paper is-to some extent-of theoretical significance and engineering application value to the technological level of computer vision inspection.
