Youth thrive and their country flourishes: Youth become stronger and their country is empowered. Young college students, as the most important part of the youth group, are the hope and power for national prosperity. In a sense, their ideological quality, political quality and value orientation have a direct impact on the implementation of the four overall strategic layouts, and the full accomplishment of the two goals of one hundred years. It behooves to continuously strengthen college students’ ideological and political education, guiding them to increase their confidence in the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, their theoretical confidence and institutional self-confidence. Comrade Mao Zedong has long said, man always wants some spirit. Without a doubt, the revolutionary spirit of the Communist Party of China is the essence. General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed that our party’s fine tradition and revolutionary spirit formed in the long years of struggle, is a valuable spiritual wealth. For young college students, revolutionary spirit is a kind of value orientation, a kind of spiritual incentive and cultural identity. A society which lacks for this spirit identity, as General Secretary Xi Jinping said, is like a person who is suffering rickets because of the calcium deficiency. Therefore, the main contents and core objectives of strengthening and improving college students’ ideological and political education in the new period is to earnestly enhance China Communist Party’s revolutionary spirit identity. For that reason, this thesis, based on the theoretical and practical needs of college students’ ideological and political education, taking a series of practical experience in the education of college students’ revolutionary spirit in Hebei Province as supporting evidence, integrates theoretical research, historical review, empirical analysis, and suggestions, investigating into the connotation and function of revolutionary spirit, systematically analyzing the logical premise and theoretical basis of college students’ evolutionary spirit identity. On this basis, the empirical research mainly focuses on investigating the current situation, main features, identity dilemma, as well as the internal and external causes of college students’ revolutionary spirit identity by questionnaires and interview. Besides, it presents three ways to enhance spirit identity. They include basic rules, identity paths and security system, aiming at providing some countermeasures for the improvement of college students’ revolutionary spirit.A clear, accurate and reasonable concept is an important prerequisite and foundation for scientific research. To make rational analysis and realistic reflection on college Students’ revolutionary spirit identity, the first step is to grasp related concepts correctly. For this, the paper first explains the connotations of concepts like revolutionary spirit, identity, and revolutionary spirit identity. Then it reviews the inheritance and development of China Communist Party revolutionary spirit, emphatically investigates the revolutionary spirit nurtured in the process of Communist Party leading China’s revolution, construction and reform in combination with historical mission and practical content of different time. With that, the connotation system of China Communist Party revolutionary spirit was built, with lofty ideals and firm belief as value guidance, seeking truth from facts and proceeding from reality as scientific attitude, contacting the masses and serving people as core idea, self-reliance and hard work as sources of strength, unified dedication and courage to sacrifice as true quality. It refined the basic functions of China Communist Party’s revolutionary spirit: which are the value orientation, spiritual incentives, firm belief and cultural identity. Meanwhile, the types, characteristics and mechanism of revolutionary spirit identity are thoroughly illuminated.Actually, there are deep logical premise and theoretical basis for college students’ China Communist Party revolutionary spirit identity. On the one hand, the basic theory of the Marx doctrine provides a logical starting point for college students’ revolutionary spirit identity. Max’s philosophy has revealed the development and change of the physical world. As for the college students’ revolutionary spirit, Marx’s theory of epistemology, practice, value and Marx’s theory of youth, all provide strong theoretical supports for college students’ revolutionary spirit identity. On the other hand, theory guides practice. Without the guidance of great theory, it’s difficult for our career to develop toward the right direction. In theoretical thought, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and Xi Jinping, leaders of Communist Party and our country all lay great emphasis on the inheritance of revolutionary spirit, and put forward their own thoughts about inheriting and carrying forward the revolutionary spirit, which become a continuous thought system and provide a valuable theoretical basis for college students to identify and inherit the revolutionary spirit of China Communist Party. At the same time, the cognitive theory of psychology, social learning theory, political identity theory, attitude formation theory and so on also provide valuable theoretical reference for college students’ VIII revolutionary spirit identity.To advance college students’ revolutionary spirit identity, not only do we need a systematic analysis and comparison, logical inference, but also first-hand information from social survey, so as to grasp college students’ cognition, identity and practice of the revolutionary spirit in current situation and lay foundation for finding problems, exploring causes, and seeking out solutions. Thus, in this paper, students in Hebei University of Economics and Business, Hebei Normal University and other eight colleges and universities in Hebei Province are chosen to be inspection samples. Through questionnaire surveys, discussions and in-depth interviews with some of the teachers and students, we can have an overall grasp on contemporary Chinese college students’ revolutionary spirit identity from cognitive situation, emotional identity, behavior identity and the educational situation of revolutionary spirit. Through data analysis, there clearly reveals the characteristics of times, independence, contradiction and practicality in the process of the revolutionary spirit identity. Research shows that since the reform and opening up, more than thirty years, especially in the new century, with the issue of “Opinions on Further Strengthening and Improving College Students’ Ideological and Political Education” and the implement of “On Further Strengthening and Improving the Ideological Work of Colleges and Universities in the New Situation”, the ideological and political education of college students, especially the solid development of the revolutionary spirit education for college students, makes the ideological foundation of the revolutionary spirit become increasingly solid. It can be seen from data analysis and in-depth interviews that college students support China Communist Party’s revolutionary spirit and most students hold a positive attitude. A large number of students access the relevant knowledge about spirit, figures and deeds of revolution by studying in classroom, on the Internet, or via television and other media. The majority of the students hold the opinion that the revolutionary spirit of CCP(the Communist Party of China) is of great importance to countries and everybody. The vast majority of students agree with the revolutionary spirit of the times, and they think that new connotation should be endowed with the same revolutionary spirit. In addition, they pay real actions rather than just think of it.Nevertheless, there are still a few students having different degrees of deviation and problems towards the revolutionary spirit identity of CCP. The survey data shows that the problems reflect the lack of rational cognition, the weakness of emotional identity, the lack of faith, the inconsistency of knowledge and actions, etc. According to the results of the investigation, factors that affect the identity of contemporary college students in the era of economic globalization are complex and various. It is not only influenced by external factors such as social environment, school education and family development, but also by internal factors like themselves. Consequently, the situation of contemporary college students’ CCP’s revolutionary spirit identity is a combination of internal and external factors.To solve the above problems, improving college students’ revolutionary spirit identity is a systematic project that we need to make efforts from different layers. First, a clear upgrade of the basic principles of improving college students’ revolutionary spirit identity: the principle of combining the education of revolutionary spirit with value orientation, the principle of mutual enhancement with the theory of indoctrination and practice education, the principle of integration of explicit education and implicit education and the principle of the unity of inheritance, reference, innovation and development. Second, increasingly broaden the ways of realizing revolutionary spirit identity. To form a good social atmosphere is the premise, while improve higher education is the key to strengthen the revolutionary spirit identity; to optimize the home environment is a complement, while personal internal cultivation is the basis. In the meantime, with the development of information technology, the real innovation of network education platform is to optimize the education of college students’ revolutionary spirit. It should be pointed out that the education of revolutionary spirit and enhancing college students’ revolutionary spirit identity cannot go on without guarantees of various conditions. Specifically, we should push ahead from improving the mechanisms of organization guarantee, policy guarantee, teachers’ security guarantee, base guarantee and other material security, so as to construct a clear and complete mechanism for college students’ revolutionary spirit education, definitely enhancing students’ revolutionary spirit identity escort.
