Research On Moral Externalization And Moral Education Externalizing In Universities

Moral Externalization covering the relationships between moral consciousness,moral action and moral entity is the externalization of internal moral consciousness.And moral externalization is the recognition, feeling, emotion and action in one andincludes the importance of individual morality and realization of moral value. And theindividual morality is obtained from the externalization of morality with the purpose topursue value of moral actions. Therefore individual morality is not the only spirits.With the establishment of market system of socialism and forming of differentvalues, multiculturalism and relationships between various interest parties, the conflictbetween the morality, the economics and the culture is very sharp. As a result manyproblems start to appear especially the conflict between the recognition and action.And the reason is that the theory and practice of moral education focus on the moralinternalization which is just to let the students know what is the credit and what is thetrue but ignore the importance of moral externalization on individual morality in moraleducation. Even though the students know the principle of morality from the moraleducation and then believe it, they hardly act. As the action is not the recognition,neither is believing. So it’s a popular phenomenon that the students know the moralitybut they don’t believe it and they talk it but they don’t act. Even though some newchanges and concepts are made for the moral education, it’s still difficult to change theconflict between recognition and action among students. Because moral externalizationis not paid full attention to. As a result it’s necessary to study the moral externalizationto enhance the effect of moral education. So that the students can live the meaningfullife.Moral externalization is a very important concept which is also a very importantproblem for the theory and practice of moral education. It’s of importance to study themoral externalization which can help us to know the rule of individual morality and tosolve the problems during the moral education practice as well to guide the moraleducation. Therefore full attention is given to the moral externalization in theviewpoint of philosophy, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, science of culture and combine the theory and practice to study the moral externalization with researchmethods of history, comparison, logic, structure analysis. Static and dynamic analysisbased on the study of moral internalization will be made on the process of moralexternalization. To try to find the sophisticated process of moral externalization and itseffecting factors. At the same time, to combine the moral education status quo incolleges and universities. And then based on moral externalization this paper willpropose the countermeasures for the moral education in universities.The way ofresearch is to find the questions, then analyze the questions, finally solve the questions.The details of this dissertation are divided into five parts apart from theintroduction and conclusion. The first part is to give the definition of moralexternalization and show its features.The second part is to analyze the structure and conflict of moral externalization onthe basis of definition and get to know the process of moral externalization. The thirdpart is to discuss the influence factors of moral externalization and then to know thebackground of moral externalization. The fourth part is to put the moral externalizationtheory to practice and then to check its result. And this part will show the status quo ofmoral externalization in universities from the aspect of reason and behavior.The fifthpart is to to propose the measures of moral education in universities considering themoral externalization.The main viewpoints are as the following:Moral externalization based on the moral internalization is to externalize theindividual inner thoughts, ideas and morality to the moral action. This externalizationcovers the choice between methods of moral behaviors, includes the enhancement ofmoral wills and forming of moral habit. In my opinion the main features of moralexternalization is the initiative behavior, the complexity of the process, the result of theexplicit. Also the essence of morality is the process from thought to action, the target isthe realization of moral value, And the way is returning to life and practice.Static analysis is made on the structure and contradiction of moral externalization.The structure of moral externalization is combination of the psychological system,ability and the behavior with a stable tendency of the multidimensional structure whichinfluence each other and finally the realization of moral externalization is affected. The basic contradiction of moral externalization is the conflict between the individualinternalized moral recognition and individual moral behaviors and actions. Andindividual moral behaviors and actions is the main factor among this basiccontradiction and therefore determines the process of moral externalization. Theprocess of moral externalization is the schema involving the factors of the moralemotion, belief, will and behavior which plays a very important role in direction ofchoice, implementation and feedback. The operation process of moral externalizationis the process that all factors affect each other, relate with each other according to theirown operation mechanism. The dynamic features of moral externalization are: moralstandards from heteronomy to autonomy, moral behavior from consciousness to nature,moral subject from potential to forming.Moral externalization is a dynamic, open and sophisticated process with manyinfluence factors. And the individual psychological factors are self-efficacy, moralneeds and psychological conformity; the environmental factors are social atmosphere,cultural environment and moral situation. What’s more, moral externalization is alsoaffected by the age, interests, moral evaluation. So it is meaningful to study theinfluence factors of moral externalization and the process of moral externalization andget to know the complexity of moral externalization and finally to realize the moralexternalization.No matter how perfect the system of moral externalization is, it should be checkedby practice. Lacking moral externalization is the main problem of moral education incolleges and universities. And this problem can be verified from the behavior ofstudents. And the students know the morality but they don’t act. The reasons are two:the first is from the social factors; the second is from the moral education practice.On the basis of investigating problem, moral education in universities should bedone in the aspect of moral externalization. Then measures is put forward toexternalize the moral education in universities based on moral externalization. That isto say,propose the specific measures in the aspect of ways and method, relationshipbetween students and teachers, target and evaluation with practice as the starting point.
