A Study On Indo-Soviet Relations In The Nehru Era(1947——1964)

India and Russia both are new rising powers and adjacent with China.The relations of the two countries is not only one of the most important bilateral relations among the major powers, but also is one of changing the world’s political order powers relations,which have a vital influence on China’s national security and good neighbourly diplomatic practice.Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the history study the relations between the two countries, and which is also the current domestic academia relatively weak place.Based on this, I choose Nehru era as the object of study, from the national interests and Geopolitical perspectives to examine the development and evolution of the Indo-Soviet relationship in the Nehru era and its influence factors,which will may help lay a foundation for the further research of the direction of Indo-Russia future development.In the development and evolution of Indo-Soviet relations in the Nehru era, the national interest is the determining factor, the cognition and consideration to the interests of the state and the ways of obtaining determined the development of relations between the two countries evolution. After independence, India’s most fundamental national interest is to safeguard national independence, integrity and security, to achieve rapid economic development to realize the dream of "be full of sound and colour" great power.Therefore, Nehru put forward the non-aligned strategy, in order to obtain the political economy from two big group support.After Secnond War, Stalin put consolidating and maintaining the security and restore economic development as the national interests of the Soviet Union, putting forward "two camps" theory.While Malenkov and Khrushchev paid more attention to economic development and with U.S. dominate the world, putting forward "peaceful coexistence" strategy.So,under the two countries interests interleaving, the development of bilateral relations evolution shows a gradual development path:cool, cold switching to warm and strategic cooperation.In the various factors affecting the relations between the two countries, the geography factor is another important factor after national interest,which mainly refers to the strategic choice of the Soviet entering indian ocean、allying india contain china and india allying soviet anti-China. Besides, big power factor also have played very important to the development of indo-soviet relations, which mainly refers to the influence of China and American.The three factors constitute the main factors of influencing the development of Indo-Soviet relations in Nehru era.In this paper, in addition to the introduction and conclusion, the text is divided into four chapters. The introduction part mainly introduces the origin and the significance of the topic and the present research situation of domestic and foreign academia, research methods, innovation and difficulties.The first chapter mainly discusses the Indo-Soviet relationship historical background. The second, The third and The fourth chapter separately elaborates the evolution of relations between the two countries in the period of1947-1949、1950-1958、1959-1964. The fifth chapter mainly elaborates the relations between the two countries economic and military relations in this period.The conclusion part concisely summarizes the development path of Indo-Soviet relations evolution, analysis the factors affecting the development of bilateral relations and points out the relations between the two countries in this period plays very important role the whole history of the development of indo-soviet relations. It not only defined the strategic framework for the development of Indo-Soviet relationship,layed the foundation for the Indo-Soviet relationship after Nehru,but also established a strategic cooperative relationship between the two sides since then.
