The thesis mainly discusses the evolution process of relation between Americaand Turkey since9·11. The terrorist attacks American territory. Turkey offerssupport and sympathy to America. Turkey supports America to wage the terrorism war.It can sustain the real aligned relation under the NATO frame. There are differencesappearing about the Iraq war, so the aligned relation between America and Turkeydecreases. Both of them don’t have the same view whether America wages the Iraqwar and commences the northern front in Turkey. Rift appears between the twocounties. Then Turkey does not satisfy with the Kurdish policy of America. In order totopple the Saddam regime, America appeases and gathers the Kurds, regardless ofopposion of Turkey. It heavily damages the sovereign and territorial integrity ofTurkey. Afterwards, the differences also exist in the international affairs, such asIranian nuclear issue, Hamas and Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Even Turkey is at oddswith America in the international occasion. Though much conflict and disparityexisting, it does not radically affect the strategic partnership between the two counties.It does not endanger the military aligned relation under the NATO frame. However,the international situation changes. The globalization trend develops rapidly. Thetrend of political polarization is more comlicated than ever before. In the backgroundof the9·11event and financial crisis in2008, American power relatively decreases. Asa new market power, Turkey is rising. If both countries ignores the problems andcontinues to define the relation based on the foundation during the cold war, therelation between two countries is uncertain. In this background both countries shouldnot confine the cold war mind and should redefine each other. They should repeat todefine the base of the relation and readjust the foreign policy so that they can sustainstrategic partnership and military aligned relation.The thesis has five chapters. It narrates gradually by the order of time. It showsthe evolution process of the relation beween both counties since9·11. And itconcludes the elements affecting the relation between America and Turkey andmasters the essence of the relation. The first chapter narrates the development ofAmerica and Turkey. After the cold war Turkey sustains the pro-America foreignpolicy. Turkey worries that its role in American foreign strategy decreases because ofthe end of the cold war. In the whole90s of the last century, both counties don’t confine the narrow military communication during the cold war. They should broadtheir cooperation to politics, economics and culture. The second chapter analysizesthe affect on the relation.9·11changes the foreign strategy of America. At the sametime, Turkey actively assists America to wage the global anti-terrorism. However, thebreakout of the Iraq war brings the shadow to both counties. Because of the disparitiesabout the Iraq war, it results in the rift of the two countries. The third chapter narratesthe further disparaties in the international affairs. It not only results from Americaignoring the interests of other countries, but also the trasition of the Turkish foreignpolicy. Turkey never blindly follows the America and regains the figure of big power.The fourth chapter analysizes the elements affecting the America-Turkey relationfrom the perspective of Turkey, America and the third element. The fifth chapteranalysizes the elements affecting the future America-Turkey relation, inclding theoriginal elements and the new elements. At last, according to the situation of theAmerica-Turkey relation, it analysizes the future trend of the America-Turkey relation.The concluding remark mainly analysizes that China can learn from the developmentof America-Turkey.
