A Comment On The Poetified Novels Since New Period

Poetic fiction is to integrate the features of poetry into the fictions, and result in a series of changes of their aesthetic style, which has formed a new fiction model. The poetic fictions of China have a history of more than 100 years since it was born. In the dissertation, it analyses the general situation of development of Chinese poetic fictions from the new-period Chinese literature, the artistic representation of poetic fictions, the tendency of poetic fictions, the dilemma and the existential meanings of poetic fictions in the present cultural context, etc. It is divided into four chapters:In the first chapter, it has teased the general situation of development of Chinese poetic fictions from the new-period Chinese literature. According to the chronological order, the poetic fictions have divided into two sections: from the beginning of the new-period to the end of 1980 s, and from 1990 s to now. It has discussed the features of the poetic fictions in each period, so it has presented the periodicity, coherence, variety and expansion of the poetic fictions from the New Period.In the second chapter, it has stated the artistic representation of poetic fictions. It is divided into 7 sections: the elements of fictions, the artistic conception, the language, the children’s perspective, the moderate emotional expression, the meaningful details. The first section is the elements of fictions. The structural core of the poetic fictions is moved from the plots to the sentiment. Therefore, the elements of the fictions, such as characters, plots, settings, present the different states from the plot novels, with the weakening of narrativity. The title of second section“What is often on paper is nothing but Yijing” is incited from Wang zengqi.This section discusses from the three features of the Yijing: the feelings and the scenes completely blended, false and true complement, and the infinite charm. The title of third section“Writing novels equates writing language” is also incited from Wang zengqi.This section is split into 3 parts: studying and taking example by the classical Chinese tradition, the figures of speech, beauty of music and painting. The novelists of poetic fictions willingly study the literary tradition, and deviate the language in their fictions from the usual linguistic convention, which make the fictions unique and achieve a form and result of linguistic expression different from the usual language. Many figures of speech are used in the fictions, which has strengthened the expressive force of language. Moreover, the art of music and painting has been permeated into their works by the novelists, which has given them the beauty of music and painting. The fourth section is the lyricism. Generally,poetic fictions is very lyrical.In other words,lyricism is one of prominent features of poetic fictions. The fifth section is the children’s perspective which is adopted by many poetic fictions. Children are the observers, percipients, and narrators. They see the world through the children’s eyes, and evaluate the world in the children’s tone, which must cause quite differently narrative effects on the texts. The sixth section is the moderate emotional expression. The emotions in the poetic fictions never pour out like the bursting rivers, but they are always in the gentle and implicit state. The seventh section is the meaningful details. The poetic fictions have focused on the meaningful details, not on the plots. This is so because the meaningful details can show the novelists’ aesthetic pursuit, convey their subjective emotions, and at the same time, make the works fully poetic. And the details play an important role in portraying the characters, promoting the plots, and foiling the environment.The third chapter is to discuss the tendency of poetic fictions, which is divided into four sections: return to the nature, idealism, sad tone, the feelings of the cultural maintainers. The first section is the return to the nature. The “nature” includes two meanings: one refers to the nature, and the other refers to the natural humanity. The second section is the idealism. The poetic fictions have described an ideal world in order to cover the imperfection of the real world, and have pursued and looked forward to the possibly much nicer living state, which present the distinct features of idealism. The fourth section is the sad tone. People always feel a kind of unspeakable melancholy, and thinks that a haunted sadness is hidden under the nice character, events and scenes, while reading the poetic fictions. The fourth section is the feelings of the cultural maintainers. Most of poetic novelists have chosen the villages as the poetic world of art, and utmost write the beauty of the local civilization. They have digged out the value of traditional culture, advocated to stick to the traditional culture. They have expressed their resistant to the negative effects caused by the modernity, their longing and seeking for the healthy, harmonious ecological environment, and nice and virtuous humanity.The fourth chapter has explored the dilemma and the existential meanings of poetic fictions in the present cultural context. It is divided into two sections: the living dilemma of the poetic fictions and the existential meanings of the poetic fictions. Since 1990 s, the exterior cultural context of the poetic fictions has been changed dramatically, with the prosperity of market economy and the popularity of consumer culture. Meanwhile, undoubtedly there are some limits of the poetic fictions. All of them have led to their existential crisis and dilemma, but the hard situation more highlights the existential meanings. The novelists of poetic fictions should undertake the solemnly artistic mission, make the creation of poetic fictions go further, in order to rebuild the poetic atmosphere and the aesthetic value of literature of the whole age.
