Buddhism in Vietnam is a cultural phenomenon localized when it was imported from India to Vietnam, became an unique Vietnamese Buddhist culture, differed from Theravada Buddhism and the other countries in the world. During more than 2000 years, Buddhism has brought many markers, from religion to culture, customs and traditions, from the world view until the outlook on life, from the ideology to the sentiment, awareness of the political society. Therefore, the Vietnam Buddhist studies is also studying the cultural history of the people of Vietnam and vice versa, because they are an inseparable unity.The historical records as Zhutongzi studying religion with Foguang of Indians in the mountains Qiongyuan; Tower of King Asoka in Tusan, Naraka (Hell) in Xitiansandao; the nuns became Generals of the army during the Erzheng etc. are enough to prove the origin of Buddhism in Vietnam. By the age of Shixie, Buddhism in Vietnam had over five hundred years old. With compassionate thought for relief of suffering and distress, by peaceful attitude and tolerance, easy integration with the beliefs of the indigenous spirit, Buddhism had quick access and integration in Vietnam national life. Not only a religion, but also embedded in all aspects of social and cultural life of the Vietnamese, characterized by a spouse of Buddhism and wet rice agriculture, the connection between the Manniang and Qiutuoluo, thereby producing Buddhist Shiquangfo and Four Dharma-a pure belief of Vietnam.Shixie inducted the Governor of Jiaozhi, headquartered in Leilou. He was originally in Confucianist, "graceful character, humbling to the under, hundreds of Graduate guys of the Han people came refugees". They carried Confucian cultural transmission in Vietnam, processing approach and interact with the local culture, had formed a cross-cultural era. From there, it arose a big conflict, generating a debate scholarship which was shown clearly in the works such as Mouzilihuolun, Liudujijing and Jiuzapiyujing. In the cultural space of Shixie, Buddhism played a very important role, because he relied on it to establish political independence, escaping the external control. Therefore, he had built the pagoda to worship four Buddha:Fayun, Fayu, Falei va Fadian, developing Buddhist scholarship into a Buddhist cultural center in his capital. The Buddhist culture was very special, because it had three cultural resources India, China and the local culture Spirit-Buddhist. The famous people of missionary activities was not only missionaries from India, Central Asia but also the ordained natives and the Chinese emigrants. They studied Dharma and assumed missionary activities, in which including Maha Jivaka, Qiutuoluo, Mouzi, Kangsenghui, Kalyanasiva, Daoxin. They are the pillars of the Buddhist in Shixie Era.
