"The Three Tang Poets" is an important poetry society in the history of Chosen Classic literature. The Chinese poems they had written contributed in a great deal to the historical transition from "Song Dynasty style" to "Tang Dynasty style" writing of Chinese poetry in ancient Korea. Researches on their writings are significant both scholarly and culturally in further understanding of the close ties between ancient Korean poetry and ancient Chinese poetry.This paper aims at further exploring the importance of the writings of "The Three Tang Poets". It starts out with general introduction of the historical development of earlier Chosen period, then focus on the analysis of the writings of "The Three Tang Poets" and their contribution to the field of poetry, which is followed by a scientific critic of their poems with the proposal at the end to redefine them as "Tang Style Group."The paper consists of six chapters. Chapter One introduces the research objectives and its significance, then gives an overview of the previous research on this topic, and the research method adopted in this research. Chapter Two reviews the historical and social development of early Chosen period, focusing on the life experience of "The Three Tang Poets" and pointing out the similarities in their background as well as their pursuit of literary excellence in a rocky transitional period brought them together to form a poetry society in Tang Style. Chapter Three is the genre analysis of their poems, mainly focusing on landscape style, lyric style, Huaigu (recalling the past) and transcendental style. Chapter Five highlights the unique characteristics and writing styles of "The Three Tang Poets" and Chapter Six analyzes the Tang style elements embedded in their linguistic, rhetorical and rhythmic expressions. The last chapter summarizes their overall contribution and proposes to redefine them as "Tang Style" poets.
