Abstract/Summary:
The magnificent and secretive Chinese ancient literatures become popularized,widespread and simplified rapidly with the aid of the modern media---TV. The production process from the text version into the teleplay version reveals, first of all,the complicated relationship between literature and media. Because of the closely relation between literature activity and media environment, the last one, ancient literature, by different means of medium or on different stages of the same medium can exhibits different level and characteristics. The teleplay which based on “The Canonization of the Gods”, no matter whether it is faithful to the original text, the teleplay and the fiction are actually intertwined mutually. Whether the teleplay which revised from the fiction can be called a good work or not is not only judged by the revision extent, or the its popularity, instead, we should analyze them contrastively both in the whole dimension and relatively independent dimension.This analysis is based on the media transformation and visual culture context,explores realistic situation of the fiction version of “The Canonization of the Gods” in TV media society. It takes the comparison among the fiction version and different teleplay version as its breakthrough point, inspect the new change and diversions of the fiction version in different teleplay versions, try to seize its essence of modern spread and acceptance, and in the meanwhile, pry into its dominant form and recessive value of the ancient classical literature under the new media context and strive to rebuild a new kind of open literature thought.First part is the introduction in which summarize the overview of research background and the literature review, put forwards the weakness of the present research on “The Canonization of the Gods” and its gained gradual attention in the process of modern propagation. It summarizes the research meaning, method and innovation of the chosen topic. This research not only concerns the text version of“The Canonization of the Gods”, but also focuses on the reproduced teleplay based on the text version. It confirms that the reproduced teleplay means the formation of culture type which is different from the written form, the development of a new communication concept as well as the conversion of the thinking modes of humanbeings. Clarifying the nine versions of teleplay works is the first step of my research, it will establish the main research objects: First version 1990 Fu Yiwei(36 episodes); Second version 2006 Fan Bingbing(38 episodes) and 2009 Lin Xinru(40 episodes); Third version 2014 Zhang Xinyu(50 episodes); 2015 Li Yixiao(72 episodes) should be included in the third version, as this the newest version and haven’t issued the all episodes, here in this paper I just partly mention instead of take it as the main research object.Chapter one of the research is the modern communication profile of “The Canonization of the Gods” which contains three sections, the first section mainly summarizes the communication of the text version of “The Canonization of the Gods” in Ming and Qing Dynasty: point out that the first spread of “The Canonization of the Gods” is dependent on the text form which is a literal communication recorded on some inscribing books. Here I clarify the three version and generalize the inscribing books. The price of popular fiction is high and the phenomena of inviting celebrities to comment, writing a preface, drawing portrait is quite popular. The second section summarize the various media in the process of modern communication in two ways: domestically and abroad, in which the domestic part contains three sub-aspects: the papery medium(vernacular version,adaptation version, comic strip and cartoon comics); the film and television media(film, soap opera and animation) and drama medium. The third section put forward that “The Canonization of the Gods” convert into the visual standard in the process of modern communication which highlight the visual image and in the meanwhile eliminates and subvert the significance and the value of the novel text.This can be reflected in both the teleplays and online games.The second chapter is the reproduction patterns of “The Canonization of the Gods”.These three patterns includes three sections. The first section is a direct translation reproduction pattern based on literal meaning: the language standard of direct translation, the literary thinking inheritance of direct translation and the reproduction of the direct translation. The second section is liberal translation reproduction pattern based on the equal text and television: the highlight of the image language of the liberal translation; the royalty of the liberal translation and the occasional flashes of the liberal translation. The third section is a variant translation reproduction pattern: the image language standard of the variant translation; the isolation of the variant translation and the rebuilding of the varianttranslation. The direct translation pattern deliver the essence of the original text in a vivid way, the original version is inviolable, so this pattern respect the original version and ignore the image language. The liberal translation pattern realizes the importance of the image meaning, purchase the image expression techniques and increase the image appreciation. The variant translation pattern breaks the bondage of the original text, tease the classic to cater to the commercial tide, enter into the recreational consumption patterns. It displays the image language to an art height and seeks the visual impact and shock.The third chapter is called the comparison between the fiction version and the drama plot which contains also three sections. The first section is the trade-offs and obedience of the text version: the first version 1990 copy and simplify the novel text; the second versions 2006 and 2009 adapt the novel text but similar to it. The third version 2014 is a kind of complicated, mounting and fragmental text. The second section mainly discusses the connectional order and tendency of the plots between three series and the fiction text. The 1990 version is basically obey the fiction order but include a little changes which compress the plot of fairy battle and focus on the human battle. The 2006 and 2009 versions have several changes but basically obey the order. They make up for the inadequacy of characters in the novel and increase the complex emotional entanglements of the characters. The2014 version is quite messy and hard to correspond, it build new narrative point.The third section is the leak filling which is a supplementary discussion of the new textual plot and its effects of reproduction teleplay.The fourth chapter is named the comparison of the shaping of typical characters which includes three sections. The first section is characters lineage which respectively state the arrangement and the change of characters in the novel text and three teleplay. The second section is called the contrast and conflict among the characters which contrast the main characters in a transverse and longitudinal dimension in different versions, summarize the characters’ conflicts in different versions: the 1990 version focuses on the crusade between morality and immorality,justice will prevail over evil. The battle between Shang and Zhou on the earth and the celestial battle between Chan and Jie. The 2006 and 2009 versions highlight the portray of Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao, and main describe the conflicts between two denominations of Chan and Jie. The 2014 version dispels and weakens the conflicts between two denominations of Chan and Jie, but highlights the personaltalents of Jiang Ziya, mainly describe the contradiction between Jia Ziya and the gang of four(Shen Gongbao and Xuan Yuanwen)The fifth chapter is the review on teleplay creation of “The Canonization of the Gods” and includes three sections. The first section is the transition of different media, overview the supplement, misunderstanding, deliberately misunderstanding and the drain in the process of media transition on the novel text of reproduction teleplay. The second section discusses the evolution among the different versions of the same media, summarize the cognition and pursuit, art expression, technique and the communication effects of the three teleplay versions. The third section discusses the gains and losses, this part takes the typical character Huang Feihu as a entry point of the related plot, discuss the gains and losses of effects, summary,induction, comments comes from the process of recreation and the effect of creation among different versions. This research makes a point, and try to provide a reference on the modern communication of classic novels based on the development and diversion of the teleplay of “The Canonization of the Gods”.
