Comparative Studies On Chu Nom And Chinese Characters

More than one thousand years with Chinese contact, Vietnam has been effected by the Chinese culture, ideology, education and other aspects of the impact. Communication, contact between ancient and modern words -- Furans is the Sino-Vietnam achievement. According to linguistics, philology research experts, before Furans, the Vietnamese and Chinese characters already had contact for a long time. Vietnamese borrowed Chinese radicals, fonts, and strokes to create their own words. Another argument, which is Furans are born from Chinese characters, Chinese characters and Chinese intermediary Vietnamese text. From the beginning to the scattered, Furans has been closely linked with Chinese characters.Though chu-Nom originates from Chinese character, it also has its own developing process, word-formation, and influence to culture. By comparing the word-formation of chu-Nom with Chinese character, we can come to the conclusion that they have many differences. When referring to the formation of Chinese character, we have to mention Six Principles(Liushu), such as pictographs method, associative compounds method, phonetic loan characters method, ideographic method, pictophonetic method and self-explanatory characters method. While the word-formation of chu-Nom refers to Four Principles, it means phonetic loan characters method, associative compounds method, ideographic method, pictophonetic method. For a long time, the word-formation of Chinese character and chu-Nom have been given different names and orders by scholars, but they are basically same and at the same time they also have many differences.
