| There are various kinds of obstacle, according to the investigation, constraining Uyghur students’English study in Xinjiang. Some of them may be closely related to the students themselves. To name some, Uyghur’s lacking of English learning motivation, mother tongue transfer and individual differences, etc. But some of them may blame to the outside circumstances, such as the poor English education facilities, not to mention the vague English education policy in Xinjiang.This research adopts questionnaire survey, semi-structured interview and observations. Questionnaires cover the following aspects, individual information, English education background, as well as their English learning motivation and attitude toward English learning.By taking a close look at five universities in Urumuqi, and four middle schools in Kashgartogether with some training programs and policy-making department, the author has come to the knowledge that English education in Xinjiang is like a baby in the cradle. If there is no attention being paid to, English education to Uyghur may be boxed in sooner or later. However, if this baby is going to be taken good care of, English education may come to a vital life. |
