The paper puts forward it definitely that the theme of Shestov’sphilosophy is tragedy and salvation, and recognize it as Shestov’s lifelongtime unchanged will. The paper thinks, Shestov’s philosophy revealpeople the tragedy we suffered from in a solid ‘stone wall’ which isstructured by rational principles. The paper says, Shestov’s philosophy is agreat last fight (Shestov’s words) to get rid of the pressure from rationalprinciples, necessary truth, eternal morals, severe regulations etc,and thefountain of struggling strength comes from faith in Bible. This kind of faithhas nothing with reason,Shestov believes it is the only way for a man toget rid of tragedy life. The paper thinks,Shestov’s philosophy is a minorityin philosophy history, but the thoughts has a profound historical origin.Inthe beginning of western civilization,it has already appeared in the Hebrewculture, one of the “Greek cultures”.It had been going on continually for thousands of years in the western philosophy history. The paper thinks, thebackground of Shestov ‘s philosophy origin is that through thousands ofyears’ development, European rationalism philosophy run into a severecrisis. With the doubt about rational principles growing louder,Shestov’sphilosophy arose at the historic moment. The paper also thinks,Shestov’sphilosophy is an exotic flower in the fertile garden of Russian Orthodoxculture and Jewish culture. Russian Orthodox culture and Jewish cultureprovide Shestov’s philosophy with abundant nutrient, and there is a deepinner relationship between Shestov’s philosophy thought and RussianOrthodox culture and Jewish culture. The paper thinks, in Shestov’sphilosophy the fierce criticism of rational principles and infinite pursue ofhuman value and meanings, have an important revealing significance to thedevelopment of modern economy, the progress of society and people’s life.
