This article mainly studies and analyses the original preservation and active inheritance of SuzhouTanci, a kind of China’s Intangible Cultural Heritages (abbreviated as ICH below). Suzhou Tanci is theICH of drama that enjoys the most professional stuff and groups as well as performance locations. Italso enjoys the most inherited and newly-created plays. What is more, it is the most played on air inthe country. Tanci has a broad mass base and its fans ranges from Yangtz Triangle Area even to abroad. It is the only drama that has professional schools and specific organizations and magazines. From thesurvival and development of Tanci, we can witness how an outstanding ICH fulfilled its renaissancethrough self-preservation and active inheritance.Creatively taking the typical schools of this ICH as the cutting point, this article observes andanalyses how they have fulfilled their renaissance under the title of ICH. It initially takes thepreservation interactions between scholars and audience into account; and tries to scientifically analysethe reasons for the reflourish of Tanci from musicology, history, and sociology. We believe that otherICHs in the fields like folk arts, dramas, music and dancings will also benefit from the experience ofits success in preservation and inheritance. The successful experience of Suzhou Tanci proves that as to ICHs like music, dramas and folkarts, their inner vigors should be firstly preserved rather than supports of the government. We shouldaspire their abilities in self-creation, self-development. Only when both inner and exterior parties pushtogether, will they be able to survive and reflourish in the modern society.
