Abstract/Summary:
Cognitive Linguistics pointed out that, From the semantic and syntactic point of view, Spatial expression of the expression of more fundamental than other non-spatial. Space area is the basis of expression of many other relational aspects of language. The space dimension adjectives with the semantic feature [+space][+entity][+shape][+direction][+extension], compared with the other space words, have theirs own characteristics in the aspects of the metonymy and metaphor phenomena of their word meanings, word-formation and syntactic features. The specific meanings and usage of them are key points in the SLT.This paper uses the related theory of cognitive linguistics, discu ssing seven groups of fourteen the space dimension adjectives of Korean and Chinese with [+zero dimension][+one dimension][+two dimensions][+three dimensions]——"big/small"," long/short ","high/low","deep/light","wide/narrow"," thick/thin " and " thick/fine " in de tails, trying to describe the specific meanings of the space dimension adjectives of Korean and Chinese, analyzing similarities and differences of their metonymy and metaphor phenomenon, metonymy and metaphor way, symmetry phenomenon and asymmetry phenomenon, some restricting factors in two kinds of language acquisition.This paper includes eight parts:the first part is the introduction, introducing the significance of this topic, basic theory, research methods and the previous research situation. The second part is the definition of denotation and connotation of the space dimension adjectives of Korean and Chinese, analyzing the word meaning of the space dimension adjectives of Korean and Chinese. The third part, the fourth part, the fifth part and the sixth part analyze seven groups of the space dimension adjectives of Korean and Chinese, discussing similarities and differences of their basic meanings, metonymy meanings and metaphor meanings, investigating their symmetry and asymmetry phenomena. The seventh part analyzes and compares the situation of the second language acquisition and the current textbook. The eighth part is the conclusion.This paper systematically analyzes the space dimension words of Korean and Chinese, through systematically analyzing the semantic features of the basic meaning, it reveals the path of semantic extension from the basic meaning to metonymic meaning, from the basic meaning to metaphorical meaning, from metonymic meaning to metaphorical meaning; Also, it comprehensively describes the symmetry and asymmetry phenomenon of the space dimension words of Korean and Chinese, and gives the rational explanation for them; In order to improve the second language acquisition as the main purpose, it compares and analyzes the sequence of space dimension words of Korean and Chinese about the current textbook of the second language acquisition, and puts forward some suggestions on textbook teaching.The significance of this paper are:This thesis comprehensively and systematically analyzes the space dimension adjectives of Korean and Chinese, making up the research of the topic; The study of this paper provides reference for typology study of space dimensionality word; The researching findings of this paper in word meaning, word formation and syntax can provide theoretical basis for the current teaching.
