In modern Chinese history, Zeng Guofan is one of the most influential figures. His wisdom and ideas deeply influenced several generations of Chinese people. It has a very important theoretical and practical significance to research his ideas about moral education and tap its contemporary value for ideological study and contemporary political education. It is the inherent requirements to inherit and carry forward the moral elements of the fine traditional of Chinese culture. It is our urgent need to implement Marxism’s theory on the people’s overall development and build socialist spiritual civilization.At the present stage, with the heat of researching Zeng Guofan continues to heat up, the monograph and Journal articles are dazzling and colorful in China. However, only a few scholars have researched his moral education ideas on some aspects. They have not revealed the entire contents of it systematically. So far, we have not found that any scholars have studied his fruits of moral education ideas from the perspective angle in domestic and foreign. Therefore, there is some space for us to research. In this paper, I researched his source of moral education ideas, ideology and contemporary values deeply and systematically from six aspects including self-cultivation moral education ideas, family education moral education ideas and his scholarship moral education ideas etc.His self-cultivation moral education ideas came from the collision and fusion among China and western culture on the base of drawing the length of education and the essence of Neo-Confucianism. His style is still a great asset nowadays which include aspire to lofty, meditation maintenance, clean and simple, perseverance. Its mainly contemporary value include:aspire to lofty, lay the foundation of self-cultivation; cautious and self-seed oneself inner; to be clean and simple, estrange fame, fortune and right; to be persistent, achieve the goals.His moral education ideas about family education is a family educational paradigm which was summarized from Confucian family values, traditional home training ideas and his family tradition handed down. Its mainly contemporary value include:make filial piety as a fundament of family, establish a good relationship among family members; practice thrifty and labor family management; establish a precious good-neighborly relationship; regulate the family to contribute to the country harboring the world.His moral education about scholarship ideas came from his experience and understanding. Its core is to be a reading-sensible gentleman, its mainly contemporary value include:sensible and enlightened human values; practical and serving social values; development and regulated ecological values; constant and perfect knowledge values.His military moral education ideas were formed on the base of the contrast and reference between Chinese and western under the influence of the feudal ethics "loyalist loyalty". By it, he was able to command the army perfectly. It’s mainly contemporary value include:command army with ideas, equip army with advanced ideas; command army with harmony means, create a harmonious atmosphere in the barracks; command army with encourage means, create scientific incentives mechanism.His politics moral education ideas came from experience. He had been in the government for many years. It also came from objective laws of development of things; filial piety handed down in family tradition and friendship between his teachers and friends. It’s mainly contemporary value include:clean and nourish the heart desires; work diligently, teach tirelessly; retire after mission is accomplished; improve each other.Moral education ideas of educating people came from his experience to identify, use and educate talents which affected deeply by the ideas of knowing talent by honest in Confucianism in the context of speculative market skills was all around. It’s mainly contemporary value include:inherited concept see self-cultivating as a center, train a new generation who has noble pursuit; educate people by "four means", cultivate more and more talents to construct socialist society; educate individualized, adhere to positive encouragement principle.
