Chief physician CAI Shengchao, MD, PhD supervisor, is one of the inheriting teachers of state traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) inheritance work. He assiduously studied the TCM when he was young, read almost all ancient Chinese medical classics and modern medical 1 iteratures. After 40-year clinical work, he has laid solid theoretical foundation of traditional Chinese medicine and accumulated rich clinical experience. Having inherited the essence of the TCM, he has created a new perspective of the TCM. With the theory of Channel and Zang-tu Viscera as his core syndrome differentiation and treatment system, CAI has gradually formed his unique methods of syndrome differentiation and treatment. His unique point of view is to treat based on its root causes. He attaches importance to basic training of acupuncture and moxibustion, advocates carefully and concisely choice of acupoints clinically, inherits and carries forward the essence of academic thought.First Part:Academic OriginBy retrieving ancient Chinese medicine classics, analyzing academic thoughts of famous TCM doctors, this paper explores the academic origin of Chief physician CAI Shengchao.1. Profound Comprehension of Medical Classics:1.1 Inner Canon of Yellow EmperorThe native materialistic ideas of Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor have a profound impact on the formation of Chief Physician CAI Shengchao’s academic thought:The whole concept of syndrome differentiation and signs to identify etiology, to seek the root cause before treatment, and choice of acupoints clinically based on syndrome differentiation according to meridian viscera.1.2 Treatise on Cold Pathogenic and Miscellaneous DiseasesThe establishment of six channel syndrome differentiation is the greatest characteristic of this book. Strengthening the Yang Qi and accumulating body Yin liquid constitute the core of CAI’s theory of theChannel and Zang-fu viscera Syndrome differentiation system. The essential of CAI’s theory is to protect spleen and stomach in varies senile diseases by relieving symptoms and improving body immune function.1.3 Synopsis of Golden Chamber CAI draws rich inspiration from this book and pays great attention to the integrality of the disease, disease identification was outline and pattern identification was itemed. Synopsis of Golden Chamber provides an important reference for clinical treatment in use of prescription and herbs and so on.1.4 Compendium of Acupuncture and MoxibustionAs advocated in this book, CAI attaches great importance to pulse to identify the symptom types and to explore the etiology.1.5 Complete Effective Prescriptions for Women’s DiseasesInheriting the emphasized view "women are blood-based" in this book, CAI employs the method of nourishing and aestivating blood in the use of the four-drug decoction for gynecological diseases treatment.2. Experiences Learning Widely from Other Famous Doctors2.1 WU Xiaoqun:he advocates the integrated use of diaphoresis, employs diuresis for removing edema, invigorates the kidney nourishing Yin in treating nephrotic edema, and treats gynecological diseases with dispersing stagnated liver Qi for regulating Qi-flowing method in the use of xiaoyao powder.2.2 ZHOU Meisheng:Chief physician Cai Shengchao values basic training of acupuncture and moxibustion, advocates careful and concise choice of acupoints in clinic, inherits and carries forward the "division of acupuncture needle plum pie" academic thought essence. Zhou also contributes to moxibustion theory development and clinical treatment method and moxibustion apparatus improvements.Part Two:Summary of CAI’s Academic Thoughts and Clinical Experience1. The academic thoughts of CAI1.1 Governor Vessel and Conception Vessel are the cores of the meridians. The two form an organic unity and play a leading role in meridians. CAI stresses the importance of dredging Governor Vessel and Conception Vessel to dredge channels and collaterals.1.2 With the theory of Channel and Zang-fu viscera constituting his core syndrome differentiation and treatment system, CAI has gradually formed his unique methods of syndrome differentiation and treatment; by identifying the causes, pathogenesis and pathology, CAI selects acupoints, determines the rationale, method, prescription, acupuncture point through seizing the nature of the disease.1.3 CAI’s unique point of view is to treat based on the root causes.1.4 CAI attaches importance to basic training of acupuncture and moxibustion, advocates careful and concise choice of acupoints clinically.1.5 Moxibustion for disease prevention and differential treatment for moxibustion, treatment of hot syndrome with moxibustion, and making growth of Yin through improvement of Yang Qi constitute the basic academic thoughts of CAI.2. Summary of CAI’s Clinical Experience2.1 To treat dementia based on the theory of shen-brain-Du meridian-kidney-Ren meridian.2.2 To treat varies senile diseases while protecting spleen and stomach.2.3 To treat rheumatism by strengthening spleen and nourishing kidney.2.4 Summarization of treatment for chronic kidney diseases:To pay attention to the combination of reinforcing and purging methods, to commonly use invigorating kidney and nourishing blood strengthening resistance, invigorating spleen for eliminating dampness and resolving turbidity; to supplement by promoting blood circulation of Qi, cooling blood to remove blood stasis.2.5 Summarization of treatment for gynecological diseases:The key pathogenesis of gynecological diseases is Chong and Conception Vessels injury. Suggested treatment is Qi-flowing regulation by coordinating Chong and Conception Vessels and dispersing stagnated liver Qi.The Clinical Research on Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) Mreatment with Moxibustion. Objective:To explore the therapeutic effect on treating mild cognitive impairment through Wenyangbushen MoxibustionMethods:Sixty patients diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment were randomly allocated to the treatment group (30 cases) and the control group (30 cases). The treatment group was treated by moxibustion at guanyuan mingmen baihui, while the control group was treated by donepezil. Evaluation was made using neuropsychological scales, serum content beta amyloid protein and IL-6, NAA/Cr CHO/Cr in both groups before and after the treatment. Comparison was made between pre-treatment and post-treatment, and between the two groups.Results:1. According to the MMSE scale method, the total effective rate of the treatment group is 83.3%, while this value for the control group was 60.0%. The difference of overall effect between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). This result demonstrated that the effect of treatment group was superior to the control group.2..Score of MMSE:The score of MMSE showed significant difference (PO.05) between pre-and post-treatment. The score of MoCA between the two groups were not significantly different before treatment (P>0.05), but after treatment the difference was significant ((P<0.05).3. Score of MoCA:The score of MoCA between the two groups were not significantly different before treatment (P>0.05),but it was different after treatment(.P<0.05). The result demonstrated that the effect of moxibustion group was superior to the control group. Comparison between the two groups showed statistically significant difference (P<0.05).4. According to the TCM-scale assessment, there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05) in the treatment group between pre-treatment and post-treatment. However, there were no significant differences (P>0.05) were observed in the control group.5. Content of A(3:Differences between pre-and post-treatment were statistically significant (P<0.05) for both groups, which is also the case for comparison between the two groups.6. Content of IL-6:There were statistically significant differences (P<0.05) between pre-treatment and post-treatment for both groups. There were statistically significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups.after treatment.7..NAA/Cr ratio in MRS:For both groups, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) between pre-treatment and post-treatment. Significant differences (P<0.05) were observed between the two groups after treatment.8. CHO/Cr value in MRS:For both groups, there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05) between pre-treatment and post-treatment. There were no significant differences (P>0.05) between the two groups both before and after treatmentConclusion:The treatment of Wenyangbushen moxibustion is more effective than Donepezil on treating patients with mild cognitive impairment, it can reduce the serum Aβ/IL-6 and levels of patients with mild cognitive impairment and block the inflammation cascade effect caused by Aβ overexpression. At the same time, The moxibustion of Wenyangbushen can improve brain metabolism. Wenyangbushen moxibustion has distinctive advantages in improving clinical symptoms, deserving the promotion and application.
