Study On The Experience Of Treating Spleen And Stomach Diseases With Balanced Method And The Academic Thinking Of The Spleen And Stomach Of Professor He Xiaohui

In this paper, the mentor’s academic thinking of the spleen and stomach is stated systematically, on the base of the study of the development of the origins of the theory of the spleen and stomach, through collecting and collating Professor He Xiaohui’s previous medical cases, medical theory and words, interviews, publications which concerning the treatment of spleen and stomach disease and summarizing the three years’s records from the mentor and study experience.The mentor is working hard from ancient precepts, innovating and writing continuously and has being a doctor for more than 40 years. He has a lot of unique insights and creates a series of new theories, methods and doctrines in terms of diagnosis and treatment of spleen and stomach diseases. His one word experience of "Heng" method for treating spleen and stomach disease is clinically effective, repeatable and has spread value. It has a universal guiding significance for directing the medicine use of gastrointestinal disease and recuperating the body by his theory of the characteristic of intestines and stomach. The treatment process can be shorten and the curative effects can be improved by his idea that spirit should be cured before stomach. This paper states the mentor’s academic thinking of the spleen and stomach and the experience of treating spleen and stomach disease with balanced method in four parts from those different aspects.The first part tells the development history of the theory of the spleen and stomach. Anatomical localization, physiologic function, pathological change, causes, prophylaxes and treatments of the spleen and stomach are told in Neijing and Nanjing. Zhang Zhongjing, during the Han Dynasty, developed the theory of Neijing adequately and initiated a pioneer of treatment based on syndrome differentiation of spleen and stomach disease. The idea that when the liver is injured by pathogenic qi, the spleen will be injured soon, so the spleen should be treated first was put forward as the the rapeutic principle of spleen and stomach disease, and the importance of caring stomach-qi was emphasized. Doctors like Liu Wansu, Zhang Yuansu, Zhang Congzheng, Zhu Danxi, Li Dongyuan and so on enriched and improved the theory of spleen and stomach constantly in Jin and Yuan Dynasties, especially Li Dongyuan stated the theory of spleen and stomach systematically and comprehensively. The academic idea that various diseases start with the impaired of spleen and stomach was presented and the significance of stomach-qi was underline. Also, aseries of famous prescriptions were created and used for later generations widely. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, new developments were made by doctors, Weiyin theory was set up by Ye Tianshi particularly, which got a new development of the theory of spleen and stomach.The second part elucidates opinions and academic ideas of Professor He Xiaohui. The main content can be summarized as:(1) The new opinions about the spleen charge of transportation. It is considered that the spleen of TCM corresponds to the pancreas of modern medicine through the analysis of the cognition of the anatomy of spleen during the ancient and modern and the function of the spleen charge of transportation, the spleen charge of transportation is divided into eight links and four steps by combining the character of the spleen charge of transportation with using modern medical knowledge. (2)The theory of the characteristic of intestines. The concept of the characteristic of intestines is put forward and it is divided into seven types to analyze form ative factors, also, different ways to nurse back to health are pointed out. (3)The view of diagnosis and treatment of four-in-one syndrome differentiation. It is underlined that disease differentiation, physique differentiation and time differentiation are needed on the base of traditional treatment depend on syndrome differentiation. Disease differentiation is the forerunner, syndrome differentiation is the core, physique differentiation is the keynote, time differentiation is the assist and the four former ones should be used cooperatively in the clinical. (4)The idea of spirit should be cured before stomach. The stomach and intestine are known as the mirror of emotion and many gastrointestinal diseases are resulted from the physical and mental illness, therefore, spirit should be cured before stomach is proposed and series of methods of regulating the spirit and stomach are listed.The third part introduces the balanced method of Professor He Xiaohui and applications on treating spleen and stomach diseases. The origin of the balanced method theory and contemporary doctor Yan Dexin’s concept is sketched from the classics like Neijing, Shanghan Lun, Wenbing Tiaobian and so on. The theory of the balanced method and clinic are emphasized. The concept of the balanced method, the similarities and differences between the balanced method and the He therapeutic method, the specific utilizations often aspects of the balanced method in spleen and stomach diseases and the experience of using drugs and prescriptions are included.The fourth part states the characteristic of treating common spleen and stomach diseases by Professor He Xiaohui. Chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) and precancerous lesions of gastric carcinoma that recognized as the intractable disease by system of spleen and stomach are the diseases which have the best curative effect and being deepest studied by Professor He. Curative efficacy of western medicine on such diseases is unsatisfactory, but curative efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine is unique. Plentiful and substantial results are achieved by him through a series of intensive studies from theory to clinical and scientific researches. Many of the diseases are reversed and the process of carcinogenesis is blocked in hundreds of patients who accept his treatment and follow-up. The etiology and pathogenesis of CAG and the three-stage partition method is underlined and the clinical experience is summarized in this paper. There is a high incidence of gastric cancer nowadays, early diagnosis and treatments are promoted, and time can not be wasted as long as there is a value of the surgery. Traditional Chinese medicine is suitable for treating advanced gastric cancer. Balance legislation, strengthening vital qi and eliminating pathogens, curing both body and mind, general recuperation are underlined. Helicobacter pylori (HP) should be treated correctly to peptic ulcer and treatment of using medicine should be according to the amount of cold and heat while cold-heat mixed type is more commonly. The etiological factors of chronic hepatitis are various and the course is long. So the process of pathologic evolution should be seized and eliminating dampness and stasis should be stressed. Raising the custom of defecation is supposed to be given priority for the treatment of functional constipation. Take the medicine on time which more regulating the flow of qi and lubricating the intestines and less purgation. In the last part of this paper, some classic medical cases of Professor He Xiaohui are introduced.
