Callicarpa is a large genus of Verbenaceae, but there are less research on the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of this genus.A systematic phytochemical study on Callicarpa longipes Dunn and Callicarpa nudiflora Hook, et Arn was carried out.Twenty one compounds were isolated from the methanol extracts of the whole plants of Callicarpa longipes Dunn. Nineteen of them were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and physical constants. Nine compounds were identified as flavonoids" and flavonoid glycosides:kumatakenin(ZZE-1),5,4’-dihydroxy-3,6,7-trimethoxyflavone (ZZE-2), ayanin(ZZE-7), quercetin-3,3’,4’-trimethyl ether(ZZE-8),5, 7,3’,4’-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxyflavone(ZZE-9), apigenin(ZZE-10), quercetin-3,3’-dimethyl ether(ZZE-11), luteolin(ZZE-17), luteolin-3’-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(ZZE-19); six terpenoids:ursolic acid(ZZE-3), betulinic acid(ZZE-6), oleanolic acid(ZZE-14),2a, 3a,19a-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(ZZE-15),3,4-dihydroxyclerodan-13E-en-15-oic acid(ZZE-12), loganic acid(ZZE-16); one lignan: kigeliol(ZZE-5); one phenylethanoid glycoside:acteoside(ZZE-18); two sterol and its glycoside:β-sitosterol(ZZE-4) and β-daucosterol(ZZE-13). All compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time, among them, compounds ZZE-1、ZZE-2、ZZE-5、ZZE-7、 ZZE-11、ZZE-12、ZZE-15 and ZZE-16 were isolated from genus Callicarpa L. for the first time.Sixteen compounds were isolated from the methanol extracts of the whole plants of Callicarpa nudiflora Hook.et Arn. Fifteen of them were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and physical constants. Six compounds were identified as flavonoids and flavonoid glycosides:luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(LH-4),5,4’-dihydroxy-3,7, 3’-trimethoxy flavone(LH-5), apigeni-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(LH-6), luteolin(LH-7), luteolin-4’-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(LH-8), apigenin(LH-9); five terpenoids:Ilexsaponin B2(LH-1),oleanolic acid(LH-10), ursolic acid(LH-11),8-acetyl harpagide(LH-2), 6-O-vanilloyl-ajugol(LH-3); two phenylethanoid glycoside:acteoside (LH-12) and forsythosides B(LH-13); two sterol and its glycoside:β-sitosterol(LH-14),β-daucosterol (LH-15). Compounds LH-1、LH-2、LH-3 were isolated from genus Callicarpa L. for the first time.Chemical constituents, pharmacological activity and clinical application of Callicarpa genus were reviewed.
