Sageretiae theae herba is from the aerial part of sageretia thea (osbeck) johnst. Var.tomentosa (Schneid.) or sageretia thea (osbeck) johnst.Var.thea, and the resource is rich. which has the efficacy of eliminating wind and dampness, relieving phlegmc and cough, and promoting granulation. The modern pharmacological studies show that Sageretiae theae herba can be used for protect liver and antibacterial, clihically used in the treatment masti-tumour has good effect. Now the research on Sageretiae theae herba is seldom, and lack of quality control method. This subject focus on research on chemical constituents, experiment of protect liver and quality control, which provides foundation for further study.Acute toxicity experiment results show that in mice stomach can withstand the maximum volume after dosing, Sageretiae Theae Herba alcohol extract and water extract of mental state all without exception, the control groups of mice activity is normal, does not appear unfavorable condition. Sageretiae Theae Herb alcohol extract and water extract a day maximum dosage of raw medicinal materials of190g/kg, respectively215g/kg, respectively316.7times and358.3times of people often use, adults often dosage of more than100times, less toxicity of two kinds of extracts. In CCl4induced liver injury in mice with acute liver injury model, bifendate as the positive control, to observe high, medium and low dose group of Sageretiae Theae Herba Water extraction, ethanol extraction and Petroleum ether part, Petroleum ether part, n-butyl alcohol extract, through the determination of serum ALT, AST level in mice, to response Sageretiae Theae Herba affect the role of CCl4induced liver injury in mice and by measuring, MDA, SOD and GSH-Px indexes combined with liver pathological observation, from free radical damage and the mechanism of its action in terms of the antilipid peroxidation. Sageretiae Theae Herba through lower levels of MDA, increase SOD, GSH-Px level, reduce the degree of lipid peroxidation, improve the level of the body’s antioxidant enzymes and enhance the ability of scavenging free radicals on the acute liver injury induced by CCl4play a protective role.System preliminary experimental result shows that Sageretiae theae herba might contain amino acids, polypeptide, sugar, phenols, tannin, organic acid, flavonoid, coumarin, lactone, terpene, phytosterol. Using the method of chromatographic methods to seperated and purified the chemical constituents of petroleum ether extract, ethyl acetate extract and n-butanol extract. There are13constituents have been isolated and identified:di-n-butylphthalate(1), stigmasterol(2), β-sitosterol(3), friedelin(4), friedelinol(5), daucossterol(6), taraxerol(7), hexadecanoic acid(8), icosanoic acid(9), pentadecanoic acid(10), enndecanoic acid (11), heneicosanc acid(12), emodin-6-O-α-L-rhamnop-yranosyl(13).The compound1,2,5,8-13have been obtained from this plant for the first time.Taking the17batches Sageretiae theae herba in Guangxi as the research object, research on quality control by pharmacognostic identification, determined examination project of moisture, total ash, acid-insoluble ash and50%ethanol extract, and construct of the fingerprint. Using the methods of identification of origin, morphological identification, microscopic identification to research on the two different source of Sageretiae theae herba (sageretia thea (osbeck) johnst. var.tomentosa (Schneid.) and sageretia thea (osbeck) johnst.Var.thea), besides construct of the TLC and FTIR. The result of moisture is between6.58%~11.14%; the total ash is between2.77%~4.78%; the acid-insoluble ash is between0.05%~0.50%and the50%ethanol extract is between9.75%~17.56%; proposed preliminarily that the moisture couldn’t be higher than13.0%; the total ash couldn’t be higher than6.0%; the acid-insoluble ash couldn’t be higher than0.6%; the water extracts couldn’t be lower than9.0%.The quality control methods provides foundation for the quality control for Sageretiae theae herba.
