Uterus myoma is the most common benign reproductive organ tumors in women aged 30 to 50 years. Uterus myoma is defined as "ZhengJia" in TCM. China’s senior TCM professor Xiao chengzong agrees with it. Professor Xiao points out that uterus myoma mimics "ShiJia" which was documented in the Internal Canon of Medicine. Professor Xiao developed treatment policy of combined "BU" and "Xiao".This study is divided into three parts. The first part is literature reviewing, followed by the second part of Professor Xiao’s academic ideology and experiences for treating uterus myoma using the policy of combined "BU" and "Xiao". The third part focused on efficacy and mechanism study of "Jiliuneixiao"Pill in treating uterus myoma.Objectives:1. To comb Professor Xiao’s academic theory and summarize her academic ideology.2. To study the efficacy and mechanism of "Jiliuneixiao"Pill in treating uterus myoma by intra-vagina echo technique. To develop new policy for TCM efficacy evaluation.Methods:1. To understand and state Professor Xiao’s academic ideology by learning TCM basic theories, learning-on-spot in her consulting room reviewing her published papers.2. To study the efficacy and mechanism of "Jiliuneixiao"Pill in treating uterus myoma by intra-vagina echo technique.42cases in 82 patients meeting inclusion criteria were randomized to treatment group ("Jiliuneixiao"Pill group) and 40 cases to control group("guizhifuling" capsule group). All the patients were treated continuously for 3 menstrual period.Pre-and post-treatment uterus volume, myoma volume, myoma blood grading, changes of uterus artery blood frequency spectrum, changes of myoma surrounding blood frequency spectrum, changes of intra-myoma blood frequency spectrum were recorded and analyzed.Results:1. Professor Xiao’s academic ideology and the uterus myoma treatment policy of combined "BU" and "Xiao". Professor Xiao’s academic papers were thoroughly reviewed and analyzed, from her grandfather’s influence, her TCM master’s teaching to her gradual understanding the truth of TCM, to comb and summarize her academic ideology. Professor Xiao emphasizes on diagnosis and the use of all information from TCM "sizhen", especially on inquiry. In clinical practice for women’s diseases, Professor Xiao focuses on distinguishing both etiologies and symptoms. She also weighs the role emotions play in women’s diseases. Professor Xiao regards the mechanisms of uterus myoma as "qixuxueyu" with the treating policy of staged methods by combining BU and XIAO and increasing "zhengqi" meanwhile.2. Clinical efficacy mechanism within Pills fibroids treatment of uterine fibroids2.1 Two groups in age, disease duration, fibroid volume, and other aspects of uterine volume between the two groups, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05), together with having comparable.2.2 Within the two groups before and after treatment of uterine volume comparison:the treatment group than before treatment significantly reduced uterine volume (P<0.05);there is a decreasing trend uterine volume than before treatment in the control group, but not statistically significant (P>0.05). Between the two groups after the treatment of uterine volume comparison:the treatment group than the control group reduced uterine volume (P<0.05).2.3 Within the two groups before and after treatment of uterine fibroid tumor volume comparison:before treatment after uterine fibroid volume significantly decreased (P<0.05) than treatment;control group after treatment than before treatment of uterine fibroids volume decreases trend, but not statistically significant (P>0.05). Between the two groups after the treatment of uterine fibroid volume comparison:the treatment of uterine fibroid volume decrease than the control group (P<0.05).2.4 Fibroid tumor blood flow grade two comparison:before and after treatment, fibroid tumor blood flow grade change had significant difference (P<0.05); the control group before and after treatment fibroid tumor blood flow grade also change the comparison significant differences (P<0.05);two groups before treatment, fibroid tumor blood flow between the latter group showed no significant grade difference (P>0.05).2.5 Within the two groups, between groups uterine artery blood flow signal comparison: the treatment group before treatment and after treatment, the control group before treatment and after treatment and between groups uterine artery Doppler signals S/D,RI,PI was no statistical change significance (P>0.05).2.6 Within the tumor blood flow signals within the parameters between the two groups: the treatment group before and after treatment, the tumor blood flow inside the S/D change was not statistically significant (P>0.05); RI, PI was increased range statistics significance (P<0.05);comparative control group before and after treatment, the tumor blood flow inside the S/D, PI change was not statistically significant (P>0.05);RI, and a statistically significant increase (P<0.05);after treatment between the two groups within the tumor blood flow signal parameter comparison:the treatment group than the control group RI,PI change was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.7 Surrounding the tumor blood flow parameters between flow signal between the two groups:the treatment group before and after treatment S/D,PI change was not statistically significant(P>0.05),RI,and a statistically significant increase(P<0.05);control After the treatment group after treatment compared with S/D, PI change was not statistically significant(P>0.05),RI, and a statistically significant increase (P<0.05); after treatment between the two groups surrounding the tumor blood flow signal parameters Compare:The treatment group was statistically significant increase (P<0.05)than the control group RI.2.8 Comparison of two groups:the treatment group, the total efficiency of 92.86%; the control group, the total efficiency of 72.50%, the overall efficiency of the two groups was significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusions:1. Professor Xiao always puts "seriousness and preciseness" first in her whole process of clinical practice,teaching and research work for up to 50years.She doesn’t hesitate to learn from Western medicine in her TCM clinical practice and individualize treatment policy from person to person. She does her best to find out causes of disease and seek preciseness in treating policy and method. Professor Xiao is good at finding out causes of disease based on TCM basic theories in complicated cases. She keeps herself updated for the latest progress in treating women’s diseases worldwide, combining TCM and western medicine into one Professor Xiao’s academic ideology is worth being exploited.2.Xiao Cheng Cong professor read the classics of traditional Chinese medicine and clinical practice, that uterine leiomyoma belongs to the category of "mass in the abdomen", especially with the records of the s"shijia"is very similar to the. Xiao division that the pathogenesis of the disease is mainly Qi deficiency and blood stasis, phlegm and blood stasis, and put forward the stage of treatment, the complement consumption combined with the principle of treatment and is divided into menstrual and non menstrual period treatment and at different times fill and each have emphasize particularly on, so that the specimen and cure. The non menstrual treatment to eliminate the disease mainly, blending in the consumer, disappear in the fill. Menstrual treatment to fill the main, fill in the consumer, and put up the fill.3.Based on her clinical practice for many years, Professor Xiao developed "jiliuneixiao" pill, which now is being widely used in China with excellent effects and outcome. This study demonstrates that the myoma nourishing blood vessels can be destroyed by "jiliuneixiao" pill with markedly decreasing in blood supply to myoma and the growth of myoma stops. This study also demonstrates that color Doppler speed energy technique is a reliable evaluation tool for efficacy in treating uterus myoma.
