In China, coal waste piles were in large quantities and produced serious pollution, which need comprehensive revegetation and ecological rehabilitation as soon as possible.Soil compaction is indispensable during the remediation process of coal waste piles with spontaneous combustion. Revegetation directly on compaction soil could reduce the amount of cost and new soil greatly, but it must be based on the prerequisite that the contradiction between soil compaction and revegetation has been solved. Based on the study of mechanism of Festuca Arundinacea%response and acclimation to the soil compaction through pot experiments, the paper has revealed the regularity of Festuca Arundinacea phenotype growth and cell membrane permeability’s response to the soil compaction and the mechanism of Festuca Arundinacea’s adapting to soil compaction by the regulation of phenotype growth, telomerase activity and water-solubility matter, and disclosed mechanism of Festuca Arundinacea’s response and acclimation to the change of soil thickness. The paper presented the distributed model of Festuca Arundinacea’s root system.Three revegetation programes and construction parameters in compacted soil were proposed. Good results were achieved by field preliminary test..
