How to select an appropriate transmission to match the bus based on the local conditions is the common concerns of urban bus companies and transmission manufactures. The performance of transmission could affect many aspects of the systems, such as operation reliability, fuel economy, operating accessibility, riding comfort, et al. In order to explore a promotion means of AMT product and performances comparison of the three transmissions pruduct(MT, AMT, AT), by tracking after the process of AMT installation, commissioning, trial operation and the formal operation, it carried out investigations and testing works respectively on the bus line and automobile test field in both plain city and mountain city, acquires a large number of road spectrum data, in addition, operation data of the bus line, such as the riding mileage, operating time, fuel consumption, passenger volume data. The research could be references as the transmission manufacturers broadening market and definituding product positioning, helps to provide a transmission purchasing reference for the urban bus company, cuts down operating costs, reduces the labor intensity of drivers, alleviates congestion between bus stations, in addition, it could improve riding comfort and shift quality, and provide basic data and test experiences for the transmissions testing works.Firstly, on the basis of recording and tracking after promotion process of AMT, the present paper gradually discusses influence factors, which are relevant to riding quality of transmission from the perspective of road and traffic environment, operation state, and technical condition of the urban buses. Secondly, according to sufficient investagation before testing, it puts forward idea to fuel consumption testing on CNG-fueled bus, and accumulates a lot of operation data. Thirdly, as the foundation on statistics, maxmium shifting-force and pedal controling-force are added up by the means of stratified sampling, meanwhile, based on on single loop and monthly cumulative data, comparison methods of operational efficiency are proposed. Fourth, on the analyse of bus-driver’s labor intensity, it brings isokinetic concentric contraction with closed chain into account, and evaluates riding comfort by the means of basic theory of vehicle ride comfort. by using the revised clapeyron equation, it calculates the fuel comsumption of CNG-fueled buses under different transmissions.Cited data in the paper is borns of testing data on either operation or test site. The present paper elaborates a misregistration phenomenon between AMT promotion and urgent needs of bus company. It insists that choosing a correct comparison object, paying more attention to the sample project, diverse promoting means, developed and broadened adaptability, and the transmission developers participating in market frontier would be the chief obstacles need to overcome, and it also proposes a train of thought: using motion micro-fragments matches simulated driving cycles, and the testing plan which based on fuel comsumption tests of CNG-fueled buses. According to the conclusion, the CNG comsumption of AMT vehicle is slightly higher than MT’s, and lower than AT’s. It raises a point of view that shifting way contains direct shifting and discontiguous shifting, concludes that the average shifting frequency of both bus 46 and bus 400 is 13.07 times per kilometer, calculates bus drivers’ energy consumption when shifting, and explores a method on comparison of the bus drivers’ labor intensity. Operation efficiency of different transmissions is compared, that is to say, it believed that operation efficiency could be showed by products of passengers capacity and velocity. The conclusion shows that road longitudinal slope of mountatin city influences more on shifting pattern, rather than operation efficiency, drivering cycles, shifting frequency, maxmium shifting force. The riding comfort of the three transmission enable passengers feeling comfortable or somewhat by adding up jerk of the transmissions, according to the survey, the passengers are not so sensitive about the changes derives from the three transmissions. Analyse of the paper starts from the operation enviroment of urban buses, and compares performances of different transmissions. The paper could fill the gaps in operating testing of the transmissions and other researches relevant.
