In recent years, under the policy guidance and government requirements forenergy-saving and emission-reduction, the solar energy photothermal has been largelyapplied into constructions of China, and the demand for solar building integration isincreasingly high. The solar collectors are conventionally based on glass vacuum tubeand metal placed plate, which have the following problems in urban and rural use:their application scope is confined to locations; they have limited access toarchitectural integration; the heating elements have poor weather ability and poorsecurity; the lift times of solar collectors are not as long as those of buildings; they arecostly. All these problems keep solar energy technology away from a wideapplications in rural constructions.Ceramic solar collector is a hollow thin-walled flat box ordinarily fabricatedbased on ceramic substrate. The surface of ceramic solar collector is coated withvanadium titanium black porcelain refined from industrial waste. This solar collectorhas a good thermal performance, including ageing resistance, corrosion resistance, insensitivity to scale, zero attenuation with using time for the sunlight absorption, andlow price of raw materials. The low cost of ceramic solar collect benefit for the urbanand rural usage. Moreover, the ceramic materials completely match to building andfunctions with the same durability as the buildings. It thus fulfills the requirements forbuilding integration. But currently the research for the architectural integration withceramic collectors is still at a preliminary stage. This paper proposes a new heat set--dual-effect ceramic solar collector. Thecollector use the ceramic plate as the endothermic elements. It allows synchronoussupply of solar hot water and preheating air. This study designed a set with this typeof collector system, set up a dual-effect ceramic solar experiment platform, improvedthe collector parameter setting through computer numerical simulation, measured andexamined the thermal performance of the collector for hot water only, hot air only andfor both hot water and hot air, and established the principles of integrated buildingdesign with this dual-effect ceramic solar collectors. Furthermore, we summed up aset of the numerical design method and structure of collector docking design withrespect to the high-rise residential building (as an example of residual buildings), andto the kindergartens (as an example of public building).Experimental and computing results showed the feasibility of the dual-effect ceramic solar collector. It has a high collection efficiency whenever heating water orair separately, or heating the water and air at the same time. According to the differentdemand of hot water and preheating air, the collector area adaptive respectively to theresidential and to the kindergarten was calculated. We verified that the new type ofcollector can be effectively integrated with building, because it is able to provide hotwater and hot air at the same time, it fully meets the need to compensate for theseasonal differences in demand of heating houses, and it satisfies the highrequirements for health in the residential building and kindergarten, as well as someindustrial buildings and agricultural constructions. This paper quantitatively studiedthe performance of dual-effect ceramic solar collector on the indoor air quality, energy saving, economic and environmental factors, and qualitative examined thesocial benefits. The results showed a good integrated benefits of this type of collector, and showed that it is suitable for application. In addition, considering the serious airpollution and frequent haze fog today, the dual-effect ceramic solar collector that isable to provide a clean preheating air may provide a new solution for solar equipmentresearch and development.
