| Heidegger said that science was one of the essential phenomenon of modernity. So it will be a meaningful job to explore the genealogy of the modernity of science. The genealogy of the modernity of science covers five branches:its contect, origin, construction, picture and reflection.The modernity of science is the new spirit and feature of times when science turnes into the modern time, which is different from the classical age. It lays particular emphasis on the philosophical reflection of modern science about its metaphysical basis, value and methodological principle. The concept links’modernity’and’science’together, and requires us to survey the modern science from the perspective of modernity. The purpose of the thesis lies in the reveal of modernity’s logical pictures, which is presented by the modern science. The Ultimate Reality, the Logos, the Mathematical Thought and other culture heritage in the Ancient Greece provides metaphysical foundation for the origin of the modernity of science. While the translation of the scientific papers in the Middle Ages prepares the cutural and social precondition for it, as well as the scientific reason in the Hellenistic Age, the Christianity and the Religious Reformation. Because the modernity of science takes the modern science as its carrier, they follow the coincident historical logic. They are both birth in the Renaissance, and go down to the beginning of20th century, which is a process from the beginning, development to the mature period and the out-of-balance. Surrounding the rational and empirical scientific spirit, the construction of the modernity of science is realized by a series of great scientists-Bacon, Galileo, Harvey, Descartes, Newton, Einstein and others. So it does their scientific work facilitate the construction of the modernity of science. During the development of the modernity of science, as the leading thought, reason, secularization and progress takes on the pictures of the modernity of science gradully. In addition, each picture gives expression to a double logic:the reason of the modernity of science brings about a disenchanted world, but a digital and valueless world; the secularization and socialization of the world opens the way for the pursuit of happiness, but result in a riskful technological society; the pictures of the modernity of science is progressive, but also full of revolutionary and complexity.The modernity of science have their internal rationality and historical procedural, which is the effective tool for human to study and remake the nature. However the modernity of science suffers the trouble inside and outside:the dilemma from its development, such as the utilitarianism, the alienation and the sepration with the life-word; the challenge from the post-modern science, such as the deconstruction on the objectivity and determinacy. For all that the modernity of science still has its vitality on the modern society, which is an unfinished project. As a consequence, we should promote the integration between the instrument rationality and the value rationalit, as well as between science and humanity, and promote science to return to the life-world. Only by this way the modernity of science can go forward in the reflection.The modernity of science takes the western science as the blueprint. With regard to the modernization of science in China, we need to get rid of the pragmatism, improve the cultural gene and science innovation. Then the modernization of science of China will develop healthily. |
