With the economic and social development, standardization plays an important role for the overall national economy and social improvement. As the essential part of standardization, construction engineering standards matter not only to the health development of construction business, but the harmonic development of the overall economy and society in general. Ever since China's opening up, fixed assets investment in construction engineering shares over 60% of the overall amount each year. It is the construction engineering standards that guarantee the quality of such large scale constructional works. The public interests are therefore protected. As long as the standards, regulations and procedures are implemented appropriately in the reality of constructional projects, accidents such as bridge or building collapse will expire. It is widely acknowledged that construction engineering standards have made an indispensable contribution to social and economic development.Construction engineering standards have greatly influences all facets of the society. For years, the research of the field has been mostly focusing on the specific impact or effect of a certain standard. Although the importance of construction engineering standards are widely acknowledged , the quantitative research on standardization's overall impact on national economy, especially in terms of depth and width, or how and through what it influences, remains limited. Focusing on the impact the construction engineering standards have on national economy, the dissertation takes the quantitative approach, with the assistance of qualitative research.(1) Based on the results of domestic and foreign researches on related topic and the analysis of the contents and features of construction engineering standards, it brings out the mechanism of how construction engineering standards influence the national economy from the points of target, implementing body, module, method, procedure and effect.(2) The paper also proposes a research scheme on the quantitative method of the impact that construction engineering standards have on the national economy that applies to China.(3) Relaying on the General Equilibrium Theory, the plan introduces a method of setting CGE models in different sectors. It also elaborates the 7 modules of CGE model. Grounding on the function of construction engineering standards, it analyses the relationship between construction engineering standards and CGE model. The thesis, moreover, marks out and explains the related variables and parameters. Focusing on the analysis of CGE model, the paper then demonstrates the structure of the social accounting matrix (SAM) table, the resource of CGE model's primary data, and discusses the method of data collection and composition.(4) Due to CGE model's data demand and the fact of the absence of related data in construction engineering, the author finalizes the questions and notes on the questionnaire after considering all kinds of data sources. Finally, the thesis provides an analysis of CGE model based on the questionnaire. It points out the various impacts construction engineering standards have on different industries and forecasts their influence on depreciation, TFP and investment under optimistic, moderate and pessimistic predictions separately.
