| With the development of emerging technology and impetus of technology transform,the industrial structure changes accordingly, thus enterprise's strategy should also adjustfor the dynamic change of external environment. Under this kind of complication anddiversification, it's more difficult for enterprises to satisfy customers' demand, whichleads to the necessity for enterprises to look for external cooperation to realize thecustomers' value, thereby to expand the enterprise's value activities.Under the influence of technology transforms, industry structure changes and valuechain's organization is also adjusted and promoted. Therefore, this dissertation proposesthe key concept of value ecosystem through synthesizing the enterprise ecology theory,network theory and value chain theory. Furthermore, we study its structure and changesusing the network and case study methods.Firstly, we analyze how emerging technological innovation and transform affect theenterprise strategy and value chain. The thesis argues that technical transform has thecharacteristics of biological species, integration, system and discontinuity. Specially, itcan bring significant challenge to the concrete content and inter relationship of valueactivity, thus can initiate the upgrade of value chain shape and value chain governance.Secondly, under the background of above technical transform and integrating relativetheories, we propose the concept of "value ecosystem" and excavate its connotation.Specifically, value ecosystem is an expansion of value chain shape, and possesses thecharacteristic of ecosystem and essentially behaves as a form of network. Besides, somecomparison is given between "value ecosystem and existing concepts, such as industrycluster and value network.Thirdly, a comprehensive analysis is given for value ecosystem's constitution.Individual enterprises are considered as the basic unit participating in the valueecosystem, which are categorized into core firms, key firms and niche firms based onthe niche theory. We then analyze the difference of enterprises in value system usingnetwork method, and it is pointed out that technology is the important factor that affects the structure of ecosystem. According to the diverse roles among enterprises, the valueecosystem is divided into core system (including single-core and multiple-core systems)and non-core system. Furthermore, the discrepancy and transforming mechanism amongdifferent types of systems are discussed, and the shapes of various network structuresare also analysized through simulation method.Finally, the case study method is used to make supplement and support for relatedtheories of value ecosystem. Based on the case of the evolution of computer industry inthe past decades, we demonstrate the structure change of value ecosystem caused bytechnology transform. |
