Green conception refers to an ideological system intended to realize sustainable development through the pursuit of the coordination between economic benefit and environmental effect, which provides guidence for the further interaction development between port industy and city. Port industry plays a very significant role in urban economy, but it is evitable that port activities not only occupy a great deal of non-renewable resource such as coastal line, construction land and especially farm land of city and so on, but also bring pollution to its peripheral environment, and as a result cause life quality reduction of local residents and other social problems. All of these make interactive relationship between port industry and city become a kind of contradiction relationship which embodies in mutual promotion and mutual condition. Thus it is obviously inappropriate to merely apply economic indicators to reflect the characteristic of interaction between port industry and city when resource and environment have become bottleneck in today's economic development. We should attach great importance to 'green' indicators and evaluate comprehensive effect economic growth, resource consumption and environmental protection during the interaction process.From the systematic point of view, the paper puts forward that the essential of analyzing interactive relationship between port industry and city based on green conception is to conduct the dialectical research on two actions. One is the mutual promotion in terms of economy between port industry and city, and the other is the mutual condition in terms of environmental protection and resource utilization between them. Then nine evaluation indicators of port industry and city are respectively choosen from two kinds of indicator systems, one of which reflects the development capacity and environmental effect of port industry, and the other one reflects the resource carrying capacity and environmental quality of city. And the combination of Analytic Hierarchy Process and Principal Component Analysis is applied to establish evaluation indicator system and calculation model of coordinated relationship between port industry and city. BP neutral network is used to forecast the development trend of coordinated development degree between port industry and city. Finally Dalian City is taken as an example to give demonstration of the theory and model brought up in the paper.Related data of Dalian from 1997 to 2006 are collected in order to quantitatively analyze the current status of interactive relationship between port industry and city in Dalian, from the aspects of both direct interaction and indirect interaction. Then the evaluation of coordinated development between port industry and city in Dalian is conducted, and the forecast of its development trend in the next four years is made in afterwards. The results show that with the continually strengthening of the bearing capacity of urban environment and resource, there is further improvement on coordinated development between port industry and city in Dalian, so it is feasible to further accelerate the development of Dalian Port in order to achieve the coordination development between port industry and city in higher level. The analysis process has verified the practicality and validity of theories, methods and evaluation model established in the paper. Because Dalian is a typical coastal port city in China, the idea and method of the paper is of theoretical significance to other coastal port cities as well.
