Yanji, Longjing and Tumen shortened as Yan-long-tu, are three cities of Yanbian KoreanAutonomous Prefecture (hereinafter shortened as Yanbian Prefecture). TheYanji-longjing-tumen Integration Strategy, which was approved by the government of JilinProvince, was launched in November 2007. In view of economics and managementperspectives, this paper analyses current situation and problems concerned governmentcooperation, industry integration, market integration and institutional innovation. Usingmulti-disciplinary knowledge and a variety of research methods, it puts forward some targetedand maneuverable recommendations,and explores many feasible and pertinent suggestionsto promote economic integration of these underdeveloped areas.This paper consists of introduction, environment for development of Yan-long-tueconomic integration, practice and analysis of civil regional economic integration, empiricalstudy of Yan-long-tu economic integration and conclusion.The first part is introduction, which includes originion of this issue, research andreview on regional economic integration progress at home and abroad, basic ideas andresearch methods of the paper.The second part discusses the environment for the development of Yan-long-tueconomic integration. Development and cooperation of Tumen River area and it's effects onthe economoc development of Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture, the SWOT analysis onregional economic development and strategic choices, necessity and feasibility forYan-long-tu economic integration are concerned.The third part analyses the practices and lessons of domestic regional economicintegration, and extracts the beneficial experience and inspiration from the development ofregional economic integration of Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta andBeijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.The fourth part is the core of the paper and it includes three chapters. In the research ofinter-governmental cooperation of Yan-long-tu area, chapter three points out some criticalfields of the cooperation, on the basis of its problems and principles. Chapter four advances apath selection of Industry consolidation by Chenery multi-national model, industrialstructure similarity coefficient, gradient coefficient of industry, and locationquotient,etc.Chapter five estimates the degree of market with Fangang's five aspects of themarket economy and variance of relative price series model, analyses the trend of market integration of Yan-long-tu,and makes a concrete analysis on development status ofcommodity market, financial markets, labor market, real estate market, technology andinformation market and property market.On this basis, it analyses the factors counteractingmarket integration progress and market barriers, and puts forward a path choice forconstructing Yan-long-tu's market integration.Chapter six is an innovative study ofYan-long-tu economic integration. It analyses the extent of regional economic growth underinstitutional changing.Then wielding Pearson correlation coefficient , it analyses thecorrelation between system variables and economic growth, and evaluates their influence ofeach system change on regional economic growth. Finally, it tables a proposal on thesubject and path choice of institutional innovation for economic integration.The fifth part is composed of conclusion and outlook.The Conclusions are:(1) Theimplementation of regional economic integration is a step-by-step process;(2) Marketintegration is the base for regional economic integration; (3)Sound coordination mechanismsof interests are prerequisite and necessary condition for the implementation of regionaleconomic integration; (4)In the initial stage of regional economic integration,thegovernment's force is not ongly rational,but also necessary; (5) Compared with the developedareas, economic integration of underdeveloped areas are facing more obstacles,and there is along way to go.The innovations for this paper are: (1) Study object is novel. Yan-long-tu only includesthree minority county-level cities and this area is underdeveloped.So,this paper has changedthe precedent which confined the study to the economic integration and cooperation betweendeveloped provinces. (2)Study perspective is original. From the economics and managementscience's view, this thesis has a more systematic study on the specific issues for developmentof economic integration.(3) Ways and means are fresh. In order to make the disquisition ismore scientific and convincing, it struggles to have a quantitative and qualitative analysis onthose issues such as institutional innovation in economic integration, which have largerqualitative significance.There are also some inadequacies inevitably. For example,the information is limited,which reduces the accuracy and sufficiency of the results.These issues need to replenishedand strengthened in follow-up study constantly. |
