World economic globalization and regional economic integration are developing rapidly, highlighting the importance of studies on regional cooperation economies by the academy. In Asia, the Association of South East Asian Nations, Greater Mekong Sub-region Economic Cooperation, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation and the Association of South Asian Nations are under steady growth, while the construction of China-ASEAN FTA accelerates. Being geographically neighbored, China and ASEAN are at similar development stages. Since the majority of the region are agricultural countries,the construction of China-ASEAN FTA will greatly influence agricultural trade and development. The study focuses on the analysis of features of agricultural production and farm products and comparative advantages of agricultural production and trade, and explores the strategic options for China-ASEAN agricultural cooperation from the viewpoint of comparative advantage.Having analyzed statistical data, the study perceives that, though China and ASEAN countries vary substantially in terms of agricultural natural endowments, labor force, technologies, policies, production costs and farm product volumes, the agricultural trade between China and ASEAN mainly supplements each other, the establishment of China-ASEAN FTA shall largely be conducive to the increase of bilateral farm trade and the full play of their respective advantages, enhancing the competitiveness of farm products from China and ASEAN in the international markets.The study further reviews the existing agricultural cooperation between China and ASEAN, and makes suggestions on the strategic options for China-ASEAN agricultural cooperation. It schools that, full utilization of China-ASEAN's respective agricultural comparative advantages and active play of multilateral and bilateral cooperation mechanisms should be given to realize strategies of regional cooperation, country cooperation, investment, products, technologies and information sharing for China-ASEAN agricultural cooperation.
