Small-medium Enterprise Clusters: Mechanism And Development

Small-medium enterprise clusters are the most characteristic style of the industrial organization in modern economics, and are also a development model which can promote the district competition ability. In recent years, because of the innovation in the high-tech enterprise clusters such as ones in the Silicon Valley and the powerful international competition ability among the traditional industry clusters in the Third Italy, the phenomenon of small-medium enterprise clusters have become the focus concern in the research field. The variety and diversification of the small-medium enterprise clusters and their impact on the evolution of the industrial structure make the small-medium enterprise clusters become the main symbol of the district competition ability in China. The research on the small-medium enterprise clusters is very important to promoting the rapid development of the small-medium enterprises and enhancing the district competition ability in both theory research and practice. Although there are many theoretical outcomes in the academic field, the ones in the small-medium enterprise clusters' evolution mechanism is not enough. And this thesis wishes to do some contributions in this aspect.The small-medium enterprise clusters are a complicated social phenomenon. Their evolution are affected by various factors, some of which are economic, some of which are cultural and social, so the research on the rule of the small-medium enterprise cluster's evolution must be based on various theoretical methods and be studied from several perspectives. The innovations of this thesis are as follows:1. The market structure of perfect competition is put into the framework of small-medium enterprise clusters' evolution, and this thesis suggests that the nature of the small-medium enterprise clusters' evolution is the evolution from perfect competition to monopolistic competition..2. Based on the enterprise competition, the four stages of small-medium enterprise clusters' evolution is discussed.3. The definition of non-registration enterprise is put forward, and this thesis analyses the function of non-registration enterprise in Chinese small-medium enterprise clusters' development.4. Innovation is the headspring of small-medium enterprise clusters to evolve to the higher level, and obtains the competition advantage.This thesis suggests that the small-medium enterprise clusters are formed in the region which innovation culture and the entrepreneurial spirits are accumulated. The sustainable economic growth, industry's upgrading, and independent innovation ability are the inevitable results of the small-medium enterprise clusters' evolution. The government should grasp the substantive characteristic of the small-medium enterprise clusters, create a social cultural environment which innovation and competition are encouraged, provide sufficient public service, reduce enterprise transaction and innovation cost, impel the formation and development of small-medium enterprise clusters.
