Research On Competitive Power Evaluation Based On Innovation Ability Of China's Shipping Enterprises

Sea transport plays a quite important role in the modern economy, for above 90% goods of international trade are shipped by sea. With the rapid development of economy and external trade, the China's shipping industry has been confronted with great opportunity to boom. And the shipping enterprises must enhance their competitive power in order to survive and develop in the open and unrestricted international shipping structure. The paper absorbs the existing enterprise competitive power theories, and carries out the analysis based on those theories. DEA method is used to make the demonstrational analysis for six representative shipping companies.According to the facts of the internal and external challenges faced by the shipping enterprises, SWOT is used to put forward the influencing factors of the strategy choice and make qualitative analysis about those factors. Furthermore, the thesis takes advantage of AHP method to carry out the quantitative analysis and pick out the key factors that affect the development of shipping companies. At last, the development strategy for China's shipping enterprises is selected out.Based on the innovation economics, the author compares several traditional competition dominance theories including the competitive advantage theory, resource ability dominance theory and ordinary ability dominance theory. Since the innovation ability is the core competence for the China's shipping enterprises to compete effectively and persistently in the current dynamic and complex shipping market due to the revolution of information technology and the economy globalization, the paper puts forward competition evaluation system based on innovation ability tailored for the shipping enterprises, including shipping technological innovation, shipping organizational innovation and shipping management innovation, which constitute the evaluating index system and evaluating model that can be the fundamental theoretical framework.On the bases of theoretic research and quantitative analysis, the paper makes questionnaires that are tested by the open financial data. After the reliability analysis and validity analyses towards the sample data, the author evaluates six shipping companies in terms of competitive power by the method of DEA. The evaluation research of principal component analysis and DEA analysis validates the competitive power evaluation system for shipping enterprises based on innovation ability, which shows that the innovation ability has become the key factor that determines the competitive power of China's shipping enterprises. According to the results of the demonstration, the paper put forwards the relative policies for the China's shipping enterprises to enhance international competitive power systematically.
