Logistics, as the main industry in national economy, plays a very important role in economic development. Distribution center is the most complicated node in logistics net. In order to reduce the logistics cost, it is necessary to make proper scientific layout plan for the distribution center and provide good working environment. This paper makes an in-depth study on the problem of the interior logistics system layout in Distribution Center. It is based on the West Technology Program of the Ministry of Communications of the People's Republic of China—"Study on Application Technology of Collection and Distribution and Transportation under Highway Mass Route in the West". The conclusion provides theory for distribution center layout which could be applied in practice and will help advance the logistics industry.A full-functioned distribution center has various facilities and complicated work processes. It is necessary to fully consider all the influential factors during planning to provide good working environment and facilities for the fluent operation and thus increase operation efficiency. Distribution center layout includes interior logistics system layout, operation management and information system programming. The interior logistics system layout in distribution center focuses on the goods flow problem. It includes work process layout, working-area arrangement, mechanical equipment and goods storage plan.Distribution center layout is a complicated systematic engineering which needs comprehensive analysis on the subject, rules and objects and the application of balance theory of supply and demand to analyze distribution demand and supply ability. Then as the calculation formula of the distribution center land scale is concluded, the distribution center land scale could be calculated. Hence the layout is more scientific.Work process is the sequence of all the activities in the operation. The distribution center businesses include: purchasing, loading and unloading, handling, stocking, order processing, selecting, distribution processing, packaging, picking, assembling, transiting and information processing. The design rules of distribution center work process are: techniques practical, process minimal, goods flow and information flow divided and process isochronous. Operation process is the main process of the distribution center business management. Whether the operation process is well arranged will directly influence work efficiency, working-area layout, mechanical equipment and goods storage plan. Distribution center work process layout is the basis of the whole distribution center layout. Using modularization theory may design work process of distribution center. The methods include: modularization design method, graphics mode, graph theory and network analysis, production system design method and discrete event dynamic system model.Distribution center working-areas include logistics and non-logistics areas. Logistics working-areas include inbound area, storage area, distribution processing area, tally area, outbound area and reverse logistics area. Non-logistics areas include official business area, assistant work area and service area. This paper provides SLP schematic method and SLP analytical method of working-areas by summarizing the present working-area layout theories and methods and establishes working-area relativity model and layout model by analyzing the relativity of working-area according to the distribution process. These two methods are tested in practice and a successful layout plan is got.Main mechanical equipment in distribution center covers the range of loading, unloading, handling, packaging, stocking, processing and transition. This paper starts with the basic theory of facility selection and collocation and analyzes the influential factors. To use the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) choosing facility may solve the problem of more factors influencing. Through calculating quantitatively, facility collocation is made more scientific.Distribution center needs a large storage of multiple goods for the customers'orders in order to improve its customer service. Therefore, storage area is large-scale and hard to manage. A scientific plan of the storage area could improve work efficiency, save land and lower logistics cost. This paper summarizes the basic theory of storage plan and provides determinate model of fixed-interval stocks and storage cost analysis model of rented warehouses. The model is practical and operational. Lot layout is multi-objected of which the first is to minimize the total in-and-out bound handling distances (time) and the second to lower the goods shelf barycenter, which, as a new thought, could improve work efficiency and stabilize the shelf. The double-objects model could be applied in stereoscopic warehouse layout assignment.This paper studies the theories and methods of logistics system layout in distribution center and establishes systematic layout theory and method as the basis for the future study. The originality of the research is as follows. 1. It provides the method of using modularization theory design work process of distribution center, and composes information module and entity module, and comes into being work process of distribution center.2. It provides SLP schematic method and SLP analytical method of working-areas by summarizing the present layout theories and analyzing SLP method. It expatiates on the principium and process and summarizes the features of the two methods.3. It provides a new maximum stocks model under fix-interval system. Compared with the classic models, it reduces"maximum stocks"and decreases the demand of storage land scale.4. It provides storage cost model under the warehouse-rented condition. This model is concluded by analyzing the composition of storage cost and the actual leasehold situation thus much more practical and operational in real cases.5. It analyzes the double-object function of lot layout and its application conditions. It provides theory for the lot layout management in distribution center storage area.The interior logistics system layout in distribution center is very important in the logistics layout field.
