Study Of The Relationship Of The Western Region Of Human Capital And Economic Growth

By employing the theoretical analysis and empirical method, this dissertation discusses the economic growth mechanism of western region of China since China implemented reform and opening up policy. The general framework of the paper focuses on the relationship between the human capital and economic growth in western region of china.Firstly the paper gives a comprehensive narration to the economic growth theory, and made a logical combing to this theory. Based on the Solow model, it has made a classification to the capital assignment mode on the growth process, and build the intrinsic logical relation between the economical growth and the human capital, thus established the theory premise and the basis of this paper.Secondly based on the human capital spillover model and effective labor model, by using a large amount of data, the paper analyses the human capital accumulation and its spillover effect on the economic growth. This part has mainly covered following two aspects, (1) checked and calculated the human capital mental quality with "educational year law" and "educational cost law" to 12 western provinces after implementing reform and opening up policy, (2) estimated the contribution rate of human capital accumulation amount, human capital overflow, material capital as well as total-factor productivity (TFP) to the economic growth by empirical method, especially discussing the human capital mental quality to the net contribution of economic growth. In order to show the human capital comprehensive function, the paper introduces human capital physical quality, and makes a fully accounting. Further more the paper presents empirical analysis of the relationship between the comprehensive human capital (mental quality and physical quality) and the economic growth.Thirdly, based on the above analysis, the paper has further discusses the logical relationships between human capital migration, population migration and the economy growth under the region open condition, and obtains the basic information of human capital migration in 12 western provinces. By employing the classical population migration theory, the general equilibrium theory as well as the neoclassic growth theory, we discuss the logical influence of the human capital migration to the economic growth. From the endogenesis population migration model, we also implement the empirical analysis of interprovincial human capital migration on economic growth effect.Finally, based on the above theory and empirical analyses results, the paper presents the policy suggestions on how to take advantage of the human capital to achieve a sustainable economic growth in western 12 provinces.
