In this paper, the theoritical framework on changing agricultural structure and agricultural mod-erni zation is first presented, then the changes of agricultural structures in the process of agricultural modernization in U.K. , Netherlands, Japan, South Korea and Jiangsu Province are analysed. The proposals for Jiangsu are finally offered. The following are main contents. The agricultural structure is defined as a framework which is composed of the controllable factors in agricultural system. It is a dynamic structure which changes with economic development, and its changes can promote agricultural modernization(During the agricultural modernization, changes of its structure include following aspects:)(1)Extending industrial chain in agricultural system and developing pre — and—post production sectors.)(2)Changing input structure and substituting land and labours with capital and technical investment.(3)Changing management and organization structure, including changing tenure system, enlarging farm scale, improving agricultural service, develoning farm scale, improving agricultural service.(4)Rationalizing sectoral structure and specialization of agrictural production. (5)Developing agricultural infrastructure and improving circulation and market system of agricultural products.)Common characters are presented in changing agricultural structure in all countries. In densely populated areas, there are specialities because of their more-people and less-land. Changing input structure is a prerequiste for changing the whole agricultural structure. The structure of management and organization is a core of agricultural structure, and its adjustment is very important and very diffi-eult in densely populated areas. Changing production structure is the key to agricultural development, it is the favourable to raise agricultural productivity. And it is the guarantee of agri-modernization to change circulation structure.Jiangsu is a more developed and larger agricultural province in Chine. It can be distinguished into two stages for changing agricultural structure since liberation, which are before 1979 and after 1979. It was a period for gradually transforming traditional agriculture before 1979. In this period, a great mass of new inputs were used in agricultural production, but it could not produce good affect because of irrational structures of management, production and circulation. Since 1979, the agricultural modernization has been going,on. The secondary structures ane rapidly changing, for example, the input channels diversifting, new-types of management and organization contently emerging, sectors of high yields and good profits developing, and markets of agricultural products swiftly being built. Suxichang is listed one of the experimental areas for agricultural modernization in China on account of flourishing economy. Scale-management as the point of contact is the trial, and it makes considerable headway.
