Industrial agglomeration is one of the trends of modern industrial development and is playing an important role in the regional economic growth, which pushes the study of industrial agglomeration and its relation with regional economic growth from the view of economics, geography and management science. On the one hand, these researches didn't explain the foundation of industrial agglomeration. On the other hand, the study on the relation between industrial agglomeration and regional economic growth is based on different economic theories, which causes the study on industrial agglomeration and economic growth can't be based on an uniform framework of economic theory and the theoretical bifurcation appears.Industrial agglomeration is a kind of cooperation network based on the division of labor and specialization of enterprise. The latest theory about division of labor should be the new classical economics and Xiaokai Yang is an outstanding scholar in the new classical economics. So it is a new way to research the formation of industrial agglomeration and explain the relation between industrial agglomeration and economic growth from the view of new classical economics. Based on the above consideration, the dissertation emphasizes on the study of two related issues, one is how to explain the basic role of division of labor and specialization in the formation of industrial agglomeration from the point of new classical economics, the other one is how to explain the relation between industrial agglomeration and regional economic growth employing the same theory. As to the two issues, the dissertation establishes two models: one explains the division of labor and industrial agglomeration. Another researches the industrial agglomeration and economic growth. Then the dissertation makes an empirical study employing the data of manufacture and high technology industry of Chinese provinces.The dissertation's main points are as followings:Firstly, division of labor and specialization is the foundation of industrial agglomeration's formation and development. The development of industrial agglomeration is consistent with the degree of division of labor and specialization. The development of division of labor can push the industrial agglomeration by improving the efficiency of industrial agglomeration, increasing the transaction efficiency in industrial agglomeration, decreasing the transaction cost and strengthening the agglomeration power.
