| This study was done under the conduction of ecological outlook, by means of ecological knowledge and procedure theory, based on ecological basic principle, and combination with ecological economic theory and industry development theory. The concepts and categories of Chinese corn and its relative industries were defined. The history, present situation and development trend of external and domestic corn production, trade and consumption were reviewed. Composition, structure, function and effect of Chinese corn and its relative industries were dealed with the system analysis. The main influence factors on sustainable development of Chinese corn and its relative industries were evaluated. The evolution mechanism of Chinese corn and its relative industries was explored in the method of typical case study. The sustainable development strategy was put for ward according to the trend of supply and demand in 30 years, combination Chinese situation.The analysis of external and domestic corn production, trade and consumption situation trend showed: 1) corn production is take up important strategy position because of its high photosynthetic efficiency, nutrition value and multiple functions. 2) The world corn production, trade and consumption increased in the wave way from 1975 to 2000. 3) The basic characteristics of the world corn production, trade and consumption was relatively concentrated. The main production countries of corn in the world were America, China, Brazil and so on; The main export countries of corn in the world were America, Argentina, China, Frence and South Afarica. The main import countries and regions of corn in the world were Japan, Europe, South Kerea, Mexico, and Egypt; The ten countries such as America, China, Brazil and so on were main corn consumption countries which consumpted over 70% of total consumption of all over the world. 4) Chinese corn production developed rapidly. The increase acreage of planttig, per unit yield and total output of Chinese corn were higher than those of the world average level during the period 1978 to 1999. China changed from corn net import country to net import country because of rapid development of import trade. China corn consumption increased year by year. The consumption amount kept on the level of 110 million tons to 120 million tons.The system analysis of Chinese corn and its relative industries showed: 1) Chinese corn and its relative industries was an industry community which was taken seed industry asvanguard, plant industry as main part, animal husbandry, feed industry and corn process industry as wings. 2) The short points of production structure of Chinese corn and its relative industries were that the seed and corn process industry developed in a leg. The plant and animal husbandry production was not correspond in production space. 3) Basic functions of substance cycle, energy and value convert of Chinese corn and its relative industries were in the lower level. The efficient of labour and farm land production of the industries was also located in lower level. 4) The techenique system of Chinese corn and its relative industries was a compound which was composed of traditional technique, modern technique and high and new technique. The modern technique was main part. The traditional technique took part in the certain ration. The high and new technique was coming into use. Unentire technique system was the main factor which caused the unresonable industry structure, low efficience of function of Chinese corn and its relative industries.The analysis results of influence sustainable development of Chinese corn and its relative industries, showed: 1) The demand of corn and animal husbandry products of China appeared increasing trend in next 30 years. Even though corn output kept on increasing year by gear, the demand of corn would exceed the output in 2004. The supply and demand of animal product would be in a balance condition in next 30 years. 2) Deficient of farm land and water resources would be the main factors to limit sustainable development of Chinese corn and its relative industries. 3) The low level of labour quality and technique system would not be good at the exploring and utilization of Chinese abundance animal and plant resources. 4) Among the main products of Chinese corn and its relative industry, corn seed and commodity corn had weak compare advantage. Feed products and animal products except milk powder and condensed milk weak compare advantage, had compare advantage. Poultry, pork, beef and their processing products had strong compare advantage. Most of corn processing products had compare inferior. But the agronomist had higher strong compare advantage, vitamin and catatonic acid had strong compare advantage. That was unfavorable to take part in the international market competition. 5) The unfavorable influence of environment deteriorate to crop production had been appeared. The influence had been very remarkable in the dry regions of corn planting.The analysis on the evolution mechanism of Chinese corn and its relative industries showed: 1) corn and its relative industries formation experienced three periods which were corn industry formation period; relative industry population invade and formation period and industry community formation and development period. Continuous increasing demand and technique progress were key factors to make corn and its relative industry community formation. 2 )The function evolution of corn and its relative industries was in the same step with its structure evolution. Substance; energy and value flow path changed from single direction path to multiple direction paths. The speed of their flow increased year by year. The productivity of per unit farm land and labor appeared the increasing trend. But the ratio of production and input of substance; energy and value appeared the decreasing trend. 3) The evolution of Chinese corn and its relative industry community accorded with the peidi-CIark law. It was located in the transition period from the first industry taking the extremely advantage to the second industry taking the leading position. The evolution of industry community was mainly decided by the affect of demand and supply each other.The gradient development strategy of Chinese corn and its relative industries was proposed based on the the results of system analysis; analysis of influence factors of sustainuble development and evolution mechanism of Chinese corn and its relative industries. The gradient strategy proposed to develop corn plant industry smoothly; pay more attention to develop animal husbandry; doing best to develop corn processing industry so as to form the industry community with the coordination and benefit of different production grades one another in order to meet domestic demand and internal explore strategy. The gradient strategy direction was to improve products quality so as to meet domestic demand; occupy international market; cater to the agriculture internationalizing trend and the challenges after China took part in WTO. The entire strategy develop aims would be meet by make progress of mordern corn seed industry constructure; corn plant industry and animal husbandry structure regulation; corn processing industry and meet market demand.
