Sustainable development has become the focus in the world as an entirely newdevelopment perspective. Urban ecosystem sustainable development contains manyfactors such as society, economy, resources and environment, which is a complexsystem. In recent years, many scholars studied on urban ecosystem and sustainabledevelopment widely, and gained several significant achievements, but these studieswere in starting and exploring stage as a whole. Based on the previous research works,this dissertation studies urban ecosystem sustainable development by qualitative andquantitative methods, the detail contents is listed below:First of all, this dissertation discusses the guiding function of ecology, systemsscience and sustainable development theory on urban ecosystem sustainabledevelopment. It analyzes the development of Tianjin ecosystem based on the formerdiscussion. Then, it raises three major problems that we are facing currently. Thoseare the fairly large pressure on resources, the destruction on ecological environment toa certain extent, and the environment pollution problem allow of no optimism.Furthermore, based on a summary about the development of domestic andforeign studies on ecological footprint, it works on the calculating model andresearching method for ecological footprint, and carries a demonstrational analysiscombining with the practical situation in Tianjin. The result shows that, with thecontinual growing of per capita ecological footprint in Tianjin, the ecologicalsupplying capacity reduces every year, which results in the conflict betweensupplement and demand becoming stronger and stronger, and the developmentsituation in Tianjin belongs to zone-unsustainable-global-sustainable type.Thirdly, it dissertates the polestars and principles to establish integrativeevaluation index system of ecological carrying capacity. Targeting on the sustainabledevelopment of urban ecosystem, it establishes relative ecological carrying capacityevaluation index system and raises Ecological Sustainable Carrying Degree (ESCD)method to evaluate whether urban ecosystem can sustainable develop or not, thencarries a demonstrational analysis combining with the practical situation in Tianjin. Itcomes to the conclusion that, along with the continual increase of ecological pressure,the ESCD value of Tianjin has gone down to a negative number, and the state of urbanecosystem is unsustainable development.At last, based on the studies above, it puts forward some strategies andsuggestions about the urban ecosystem sustainable development, which have a certainreference value.
