This Article take S uinversity of Canton as a case study,use markettransition theory and life course theory as a research framework,throughfield investigation to conduct in-depth investigations and interviewswith teaching staff,and combined with the housing policy literature andother materials, then we analysis S university's staff housing resourceaccess layer, forming mechanism and its influence,to do so this paperdiscusses the urban residents of Canton city housing resources.The article thinks that city residents housing resources attainmentare affected by three levels of factors: macro factors, medium factorsand micro factors. The macro factors refers to the S university staffhousing resources acquisition are affected by institutional change intransition period China.It includs countries in different times carryout diffreent macroscopical housing policy and relevant provinces andcities carry out national housing policy's enforcement and depth.Contemporary Chinese society is facing from planned economy change tomarket economy transition.Therefore, the reform of the housing systemis one of Chinese institutional change,to a certain extent the reformof the housing system changed city residents housing resource access.Fromthe welfare housing distribution system to the housing monetarydistribution system,this is a system transition and market transitionera. The national macroscopic policy in a considerable degree influencethe city residents' housing resource acquisition mode, and furtherdetermines the housing resources status.The medium factors refers to theS university of Canton staff's housing resources acquisition are also affected by their schools (unit). First of all, S university hasconsiderable administrative level,is a key university directly under theMinistry of Education;Secondly, S university is a public university innature. So to a certain extent S universit's administrative level, unitsize properties determines the teaching staff of S university's ownedhousing resources.
