Taking economic growth as the only goal of innovation leads to a result of increasingly serious shortage of resources, environmental pollution and ecological damage. Today more and more people come to know sustainable innovation is most important. However, how to implement sustainable innovation especially how to implement Enterprise's Sustainable Innovation (ESI) is a hard problem needed be solved. This dissertation attempts to apply the sustainable development theories, innovation theories, systems theories and behavior science to analyze the mechanism of ESI.This dissertation analyzes the development of the concept of ESI gives a conceptual framework of implementationa mechanism of ESI. In this dissertation, ESI is defined as a process which enterprise continues to launch a series of innovation projects which help the enterprise to achieve economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits. Based on the definition this dissertation discusses its characteristics. This dissertation argues that implementation of enterprises'sustainable innovation depends on the combining effect of driving force, capability and opportunity. This dissertation points out that the implementation of ESI needs overcome more difficulties than the implementations of those innovaitons which only seek for economic benefits.Since ESI is composed of human's innovative behaviors and human's behaviors are caused by human's motives, so this dissertation argues that human's motives are the real source of driving force of ESI. Other factors such as technology and institutions outside the enterprise, are opportunities of ESI. While technology and institutions inside the enterprise are capabilities of ESI. Since ESI has positive externality, driving force of ESI does not come from enterprises'members merely. People from government, society, market and the enterprise play important roles in promoting ESI. The driving force of ESI comes from the combination of people's motives of government, society, market and enterprise. Based on analysis of literature, government members are divided into "altruists and voluntary punishers", "condition collaborators", "rational self-interest memembers". Social groups are divided into non-governmental organizations, the media and academic organizations, and the public. Market groups are divided into consumers, suppliers, existing competitors and potential entrants, alternative producers. Enterprise's members are divided into investors, enterpreneur and general employees. All the groups form a system of driving force of ESI. This dissertation analyzes each group's motives and its effect on ESI.Analysis on opportunity of ESI focus on the enterprise's external fators which help the enterprise achieve economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits. These factors are divided into natural resources, science and technology, political and economic institutions, social culture and market demand. Natural resources comprises exhausted resources and non-exhausted resources. Science and technology include scientific research and technological development. Political and economic institutions include policies and laws. Social culture includes fundamental believes, core values, ethics, objects. All the factors form a opportunity system of ESI. This dissertation analyzes each factor's effect on ESI.Analysis on capability focus on the capabilities within the enterprise which help the enterprise achieve economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits. These capabilities are divided into knowledge innovation capability, technological innovation capability, organizational structure innovation capability, enterprise's system innovation capability and corporate culture innovation capability. Knowledge innovation capability includes construction of research department, research abilities of researchers, construction of information channels, and research achievements. Technological innovation capability includes product innovation capability, technological innovation capability, and market innovation capability. Organizational structure innovation capability includes organizational structure designing capability, organization structural implementing capability, the efficiency of the organizational structure. Enterprise's system innovation capability includes system designing capability, system reform implementing capability, the efficiency of the system. Corporate culture innovation capability includes fundamental believes, core values, and objects. All the factors form a capability system of ESI. This dissertation analyzes each factor's effect on ESI.This dissertation analyzes the relations among the driving force, the opportunity, the capability. These three factors are indispensable and have compliticated interactions and the form a implementing system of ESI. These three factors not only have complicated interactions but also have complex in-depth structures. The relations among the driving force, the opportunity and capability reflects the relations of human's need, the resources and enterprise. Human's need, the resources and enterprise's relations also reflects the relations among human, the environment and man-made tools. Therefore, the enterprise pursuing the economic benefits, social benefits and the environmental benefits overall comes from the balance of human, environment and man-made tools. Based on the analysis above, this dissertation give a evaluating model for driving force, capability, opportunity and their synthetical efficiency.In the end this dissertation provides a case study on Tasly's sustainable innovation. Tasly's sustainable innovation implementing process indicates that ESI's realization is the coefficient of driving forces, opportunities and capabilities. The political and economic institutions, Chinese traditional culture play important roles in the implementing process of its sustainable innovation.
