Economic Function District And The Theory Of Economic Region Formation

Since the 1990s, regional economics has an important development and drew widespread attention. But the regional economy is so far not a perfect subject; especially on the economic area formation theory. Based on sorting out the relevant research literature at home and abroad, we found two clues on the formation of economic regions. One clue is based on the location theory; another clue is along the idea of deepening division of labor. However, the two leads did not successfully overcome the profound contradictions between homogeneous space assumptions and reality of economic regional heterogeneity; and did not make a micro-economic foundation for the formation of economic regions.This paper attempts to explore the theory of economic region formation on the perspective of the economic function districts. Introduction of economic functional districts made some possibility of overcoming the contradictions between homogeneous and heterogeneous, and the problem on micro-economic foundation of economic regions formation. Economic functional districts as the micro-foundation and key step of economic regions formation, is based on the location advantage factors, reliance on or preference of the main elements of economic activity within a certain range together to form a relatively homogeneous economic space. Economic functional districts reflect both the deepening of labor space division and changing of the gathering way of economic activity. On the one hand economic function district is the relative homogeneous space based economic agents making location choice; on the other hand it also reflects the reality of space division and form the micro-basis of heterogeneity region. This will resolve the reunification between of homogeneous space and heterogeneous space, and effective coordinate the two clues of the economic regions formation, laid the micro-basis for economic regions formation.This article is divided into seven chapters. Introduction, the first chapter, describes the background and significance of the topics, research ideas, methods, innovation points and the difficulties encountered; 2nd Chapter is literature review, in the review of the concept on the economic region at domestic and abroad along two clues-Location Theory and the division deepening-the formation of economic regions to summarize relevant research at domestic and abroad, and carrying out my comments on that from the perspective of the economic function districts; the third chapter is on the formation of economic functional districts, which looked as the basic unit of economic regions, to make analysis of the meaning and characteristics of the economic function district and proposed that the economic function district is the results and performance of the changing in the gathering way of economic activity, and economic function district has important distinction with the existing economic zones, functional area, the main functional areas, industrial areas, administrative areas; fourth chapter, one of the core chapters, based on the New Economic Geography to explore the formation mechanism of economic function districts, constructed two theoretical models on economic function districts to discuss the formation mechanism and accession economic function district planners'choice of decision-making process, research shows that if the two types of industries concentrated, then all industries department between the two industries also tend to gather here, the introduction of the planners, there is a obvious game relationship between the economic functional districts, the preferences of consumers play an important role in the economy, on this basis to discuss the boundaries of functional districts; fifth chapter is perspective to explore the formation of economic regions based on economic function districts, by the economic center, the economic hinterland and economic network of the formation of economic regions, based on economic functional districts to upgrade, tiller and integration based on economic regions in the process and administrative is closely related to the existence of regional integration and the relationship between economic region borders are open and closed properties of the organic unity; sixth chapter in the economic region formed by three to make the basic definition of the path on the basis of, respectively, to the Pearl River Delta region, Yangtze River Delta region and the Jingjinji-as an example, case studies, the Department learn from the industrial economics of input-output method, use the Chinese input-output table 2007 associated with data in the industry, the region's main city's main industrial linkage analysis, using arcgis9.3 on the formation process of different economic regions to make a rough intuitive reflected; Chapter VII presents conclusions and outlook, concluding text and put forward the broad future research directions.The innovations of this paper are:firstly, defined and deepened the connotation of economic functional districts, the essential characteristics of the economic functional districts; secondly, analysised deeply the formation mechanism of economic functional districts, and made that as the micro-economic base of economic region; thirdly, pointed out three paths of based on factor endowment advantages zone changes, changes in the way of economic region formation, which based on evolution of agglomeration pattern and special distribution of economic activities and industries, try to describe the process using the software arcgis9.3.
