In today's world, standard has become the basic technical elements of enterprises and countries'core competitiveness and also the technical rules that the social life and other areas adhere to. As a technology system to manage and regulate the national economy and social development, standardization is playing a more important role in construction and development of various undertakings. Standardization work is also important for the development of the publication and distribution industry.Standardization provides a train of thought to address the problems in Chinese publication and distribution industry. An important bottle-neck that restricts improving of the book marketing classification work in the Chinese book industry is that we are lack of a universal book marketing classification. Most book enterprises use "borrowed" library classification or self-compiled classification applied to their classification, which is not conducive to improve the quality of the overall book marketing classification, and is also not conducive to the reader's book consumption and the sharing of book marketing information. In view of successful experience of compilation and implement of the universal classification standardization in the other settlement, we can see that in-depth development of publication and distribution industry standardization work has create the conditions for the compilation and implement of universal book marketing classification in China.The paper is divided into six parts:Chapter 1 of the paper analyses the background of the paper. From the view of the important role of the development to the publication and distribution industry, the author is proposed to use standardization method to solve the problems of missing universal classification in Chinese book industry.Then,the author make a literature review on the academic achievements in the research of book marketing classification.Finally, the authorChapter 2 of the paper defines the basic concepts, including three basic concepts: book, book marketing classifying and book marketing classification.Chapter 3 analyzes the development and current status of book marketing classification in China. This chapter makes a general review on the development process of the book marketing (saling,distribution) classification in China at different times. Combined with research projects in the process of field investigation on the activities of the book marketing classifying and book market classification, this chapter analyzes the current status of the book marketing classifying in the publishing industry enterprises.In chapter 4, based on the analysis of history and current status of Chinese book market classifying, the author proposes the research topic on compilation and implement on universal book marketing classification, analyses its necessity in detail. Through analyzing the experiences of compilation and application practice of domestic and abroad universal classification, the author proposes three basic paths for the compilation and application of universal classification and analyses their advantage and limits. This chapter also makes a general analysis on the reality and feasibility of these three paths in compilation and application of the universal book marketing classification, establishes industrial standardization as a the most viable path to compile and apply the universal book marketing classification and finally analyses its feasibility in detail.Chapter 5 discusses the principles and methods which can be used for compilation and implement of book marketing classification industry standard. The compilation and implement of book marketing classification industry standard should be consistent with the book marketing category, combined with principles and methods of relevant literature classification and standardization activities. The author not only in-depth analyses the composition of book marketing classification and its roles and characteristics, but also summarizes the relevant principles and methods of literature classification,marketing classification and standardization activities. The author discusses the application of these principles methods on the compilation and implement of book marketing classification industry standard.In Chapter 6 and chapter 7, based on the research work in compilation and implement of Marketing classification for books, audio-visual publications and electronic publications(CY/T 56-2008), the author analyses the basic issues in compilation and implement of book marketing classification industry standard, including the principles and ideas in the compilation, the basic part of the process of compiling the main elements of the classification; the principles and ideas for the implement, the basic model of the implement, etc.Finally,in chapter 8,the author summarizes the paper and research work,and prospects for further research directions.
